I don't think the other shoe is about to drop. Jericho is a TV show, however it may resemible real life in anyway!

Sorry I haven't been active of late but since CBS stopped Youtube from showing Jericho episodes I am no longer able to keep pace. If Ten ever starts screening the shows I may get involved, however as I will be so far behind in terms of where the show is at I probably will not bother.
It has been good throwing ideas around and discussing the show with you and the others on this site.
I will check in now and again, but my interest in the show is now being destroyed by my inability to watch it.

What better way to put it! We now have 6 Federal Capitals, 6 Presidents. When the regions dont come to an agreement, how do they settle things - they fight. In the day before, we had 6, count them 6 men handed assignments. We now have 6 capitals???? CIVIL WAR MY FRIENDS, CIVIL WAR !!!

"Good point thinkingguy. Another thing that stood out to me in your comment, in the movie AIR FORCE 1, remember that in the begining of the movie the President Marshall makes a bold statement against terrorism and terrorist, and that we as a country would not negotiate with terrorists. As he is en route to Air Force 1, his cabinet remarks both to him and amongsts themselves that the President should have consulted with his cabinet before making such a bold statement as well as change in policy.
Perhaps the President here was gonna make some bold faced statement that "the conspirators" did not agree with. Like in your statement :DIVE and Conquer, putting paranoid thoughts in people" would be the best way to bring about getting citizens to conform to the new belief. What better way to get people aboard then to cause EXTREME confusion, a feeling of being lost, the need for LEADERSHIP in a time of crisis. Also keep in mind that there exists those in Politics that believe there is no cost too great to bring about a "Perfect Nation".
Perfect example: New Orleans after Katrina. There was no order, no law. Too many people took matters and the law into their own hands. Police men took a militia style attitude towards taking control of the Chaos. Perhaps the conspirators knew that once there was chaos in response to the bombs, the new "Presidents" could just step in and give a sense of order, perhaps being Senators that were somewhat known already. Therefore, hitting all the cities that were hit, since being major cities, would cause mass hysteria. (look at the groups reaction in the Green home in the Pilot when Dale tells them his mom was in Atlanta, not Denver) We as Americans fear change, fear loss of control (even if some people complain about too much government involvement in daily lives, the natural instinct for human beings is to crave direction, leadership)."
Good points also franfan. The average American has a "liberitian" attitude until whatever the fan happens to be throwing hits them! Then we want help from the government. Personal responsibility is fine until its more than one can handle...Katrina is a good example! Hopefully tonight we will get more of an idea of what happened! And then there will be more discussion!
