Well while we're waiting for tangible new episodes, what about clues in the various episodes.....the producers leave clues in Morse Code..why couldn't clues be in the episode names? Check out this google link of "Red Flag"
http://www.google.com/search?q=red+flag&rls=com.microsoft:en-us&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&startIndex=&startPage=1 You'll learn about the song "Red Flag" and it's origins, the usual "that sends up a red flag", Operation Red Flag a war game several countries do for practice in fighter planes, and the red flag warning for fires. It gives you something to think about anyway! What can I say?...crumbs, crumbs, crumbs, my kingdom for a crumb!

As someone else pointed out - definitely not Mig 19s since those had swept wings and no deltas. However, not Mig 21s either since the nose is wrong. :) It's just a detail but one that always annoys me when they show military hardware in movies and/or TV. The transports were probably C130 as mentioned before.
As to why someone would use Vietnam-era planes, this is actually straight-forward (once I thought of it ;)). We have seen the EMP and I remember a remark I read once that in a confrontation between the Warsaw pact and Nato an EMP would have been devastating to NATO air forces since fighter planes are usually not hardened. Quite a few of the Russian designs still in use would have survived it however. So Mig 19s would survive an EMP and still function while modern US planes would not (and are maybe already down by the time of the drops). |

This page seriously needs a Stanley Report. I'm gonna add one as soon as I can. My computer isn't working so well right now...
Whoever put in "Mimi gets her first taste of chocolate in weeks"...good job. The whole choccolate thing is like my favorite pick-up line. |

It makes perfect sense for the Chinese military to be flying old Soviet planes. At one time the Soviets(Russians to those of you under 30)sold China their surplus military equipment because China couldn't make their own.
As far as an international relief effort, I easily imagine it was a horse race to try and be the first country to drop supplies and get boots on the ground in order to help out. Any relief effort in the U.S. would involve the use of military personnel and would initially be benign. However as time went by more and more strings would be added and eventually one could see who the puppetmasters really were. Think of the prize. A country rich in natural resources with the most efficient agricultural industry on the planet. Not only that but here's a golden opportunity to gain control of one of the world's superpowers without having to fire a shot.
