Morse code deciphered: Episode recap:While Hawkins and Jake head for Cheyenne, Major Beck's authorities give the order for the Insurrection to end. Beck must now close off parts of the town as areas of fugitive activity. Mary runs to the Rangers in hiding and tell them that "We're talking
Mainstreet!Main street! Come tomorrow, Beck will start shooting people!" Russel proposes that Eric make a deal with Phil Constantino to help liberate Jericho. Eric sees the idea as a possibility, but Stanley strongly objects. He and Mimi then leave to bury Bonnie, risking their own capture. Meanwhile Heather complains to Beck about the way he's acting. She says she will not defend him anymore. Beck seems hurt but will not bend.
In Cheyenne, Gray realizes how out of hand the government is. He finds Jake and Hawkins in his room, and they tell him to go back to Jericho because the people need him. Gray returns to Jericho and is deeply effected by the state of the town. Back in Cheyenne, Hawkins and Jake meet up with Hawkins' contact, Cheung. Together the threesome discover that the bomb will be arriving at a nearby hospital. Doing cargo-runs in ambulances was a top-notch Jennings and Rall tactic, Jake explains.
Arriving at the hospital, Hawkins and company find More than they bargained for. Cheung is shot down and presumably killed by an older man guarding the ambulance. The same man shoots Hawkins and introduces himself as Smith. Jake comes to the rescue, shooting Smith in the arm and putting Hawkins in the ambulance. Jake drives following Hawkins' directions.
They arrive at the Texas Embassy where--thanks to an intervention from Chavez-- they find much-needed help. Hawkins is given medical attention, but Jake is informed that he must fly the bomb the rest of the way to Texas. Hawkins tells Jake to go himself while he buys some time. This could cost Hawkins' life, but he claims that he is unimportant. Freedom never comes without sacrifice, Hawkins says. Jake ignores his friend's wish (amusingly enough) and takes Hawkins with him.
Back in Jericho Eric speaks to Constantino about a deal. Disgusted with Constantino's murderous war tactics, Eric backs out of the deal. He stands around the grave of Bonnie with the other Jericho heroes as they wait for the soldiers to arrest them.
Beck, meanwhile, looks at the evidence that was supposed to be shipped to Cheyenne. Among the evidence is Hawkins' laptop, the information on which finally persuades Beck to see the truth. Just as the soldiers are about to arrest the Jericho Rangers, Beck arrives in a Humvee and calls them off. He says he is no longer working for Cheyenne. Beck shows his officers the laptop and they agree to quit Cheyenne too. Heather watches this with a big smile. She seems very happy that Beck turned out good.
Mimi tells Stanley how much he means to her and how worried she was when the soldiers were coming to get him. Stanley tells Mimi that she could never lose him.
As he flies to Texas, Jake is challenged by pursuing jets. They are about to open fire on him when the Texas Guard jets arrive and blow up the Cheyenne jets. From there Jake is safely shown to Texas where he is warmly greeted by Chavez. Jake tells Hawkins that they officially made war on Cheyenne. "Let me guess, not your fist?" asks Jake.
"Jake, this war was coming with or without us," says Hawkins. I just hope we did enough to give us a fighting chance. So how does it feel?"
"What?" asks Jake.
"Making history," answers Hawkins.
