A Plea to CBS...please read
To be honest, I can't even begin to express my dissatisfaction with CBS for the cancellation of Jericho, which was one of many shows I watch on your network. But maybe there's a better way to describe how I feel.
I feel....betrayed.
This is another series that in its first season grabbed me and my wife and son, reeled us in, had us holding our breath to see what would happen the next week, then had the mat pulled out from under us.
We were loyal to you, why can't you do the same for us?
I speak for millions; I know I do, as the numbers don't lie.
But here's what I can't understand most of all. How can you pull a show that had ratings above 10 early, then after a lull in programming, splitting the season in half, then bringing it back in a time slot you know it can't be expected to win, can you decide it's not doing well enough to be the top dog in a different slot?
What more do you want from the viewer? We give up our time, week in and week out, to follow a program, serial or not. Then you expect us to take it's cancellation as acceptable?
It's not right, and you can't put a Survivor wannabe in its place. You surely don't expect some "reality show about kids in a Western town" to beat Idol in the same time slot do you? If so, you need to find yourself a new demographics consultant.
Face it, you can't determine the viewer-ship and loyalty of a show by ratings numbers alone. There has to be a better way of designing a schedule without trying to make duplicates of your Thursday night lineup...which isn't winning like it used to.
On behalf of the millions of viewers of Jericho, who have followed you to the season finale, don't let it end there. You are on to something bigger. Something that has the ability to teach the young about democracy and government structure, to create examples using headlines from today's world on topics such as defense, diplomacy and torture and give us each something to think about leading into the coming election year.
This could be the springboard upon which television programs once again become more than just entertainment and allow for creativity and education to be a central role in all programming. A show the entire family can watch which in turn will increase viewer-ship even more.
CBS....the ball is in your court. We have seen it done before, where a program was announced as cancelled, but brought back for another chance...and it paid off.
Some shows outlive themselves, while others never take hold. I always thought those were the only reasons to cancel a program. Don't let ratings distract you from what you actually have…a show with content and character.
We feel you have pulled a Heidi Game on this show.
Something with so much promise lies in front of you.
Don't pass it up.

I am a true loyal fan of Jericho. I love the show. I can not believe CBS canceled a good show. I really wish the executives would come back to reality and give us another season of Jericho. Do we really need another reality tv show like Amazing Race or Survior no. Nor do we need another version of CSI. Don't get me wrong I do like CSI but i want and need my Jericho. I need to know what happened. They can't leave it at a big battle sence like that. I made sure I was home every night and made sure no one would bother me for a whole hour so i could watch the show. I WANT JERICHO BACK. IT NEEDS A SECOND SEASON!!!!

My husband and I are big fans of Jericho, I can't beleive that you cancel a good show. I wish you would reconsider and bring it back. There is not to many good shows on now, and you take it away. You leave stupid show that nobody wants to watch.. I am really disappointed.
