Destination of balistic rocketsThis is a featured page

Rockets launchedMap with rockets

  • When comparing shot from "Federal Response" episode and map on CBS site we can see, that the rockets are headed east (if map isn't rotated).

  • What does it mean?
    • Their destination probably is not North Korea, China nor Japan (rockets would be headed west).
    • Is the destination in Europe? Or maybe something in west Asia like Iran?
    • Or the enemy had taken control of rockets and directed them into USA
(maybe New York, who was reported to have survived the first attack)
    • The Mercenaries decided to attack the west coast and make their own country
      • The EMP was a response from either Texas or The bases in Montana to stop them.
      • Or the mercenaries did also the EMP to stop the Federal Government from providing info threw reverse 911?

Anonymous Destination of Land Based ICBMs 16 Apr 29 2009, 12:12 PM EDT by maciejplonka

First of all, ICBMs, such as the LG-118 peacekeeper or the minuteman III, are only launched to strike overseas. The W87 warhead, with the physics package, is designed to arm after reentry into Earth's atmosphere. This missile also travels at the speed of Mach 24, which would give barely enough time for its inertial guidance system to track a target within the US.. Submarine launched ballistic missiles (SLBMs) usually reach their target within five to ten minutes, and are equipped with a different guidance system for close range tracking. Whoever was targeted with these LAND BASED ICBMs seen in Jericho, is probably overseas, considering the TV producer consulted with the proper specialists. The way the show is going now, I doubt it. I laughed when radioactive fallout washed down onto Jericho and twenty minutes later they were drinking beers and running around soaking in the rays. A ground burst with a 20 Kt weapon would produce a terrible amount of fallou emitting alpha, beta, and gamma radiation which would be very unsafe for about two weekst. A ground burst is also very inefficent, and most of out weapons are programmed to detonate approximately 300 metres overhead of he target to maximize overpressure and destruction. Note that an airburst is much cleaner with significantly less fallout.

ZFein23 Columbus and New York 3 Mar 12 2008, 4:11 PM EDT by Chief3x7

There were two missiles launched, there were two targets not destroyed. Shortly after, Hawkins asks "ours or theirs" concerning the targets. If you look at the trajectories of the missiles in the screen cap, you can see that they are both heading to the east from a location most likely in Wyoming or a nearby area. One is headed farther to the east, which is why its altitude is much higher. New York is a few hundred miles east of Columbus.

Anonymous Blind Attack 2 Mar 12 2008, 4:08 PM EDT by Chief3x7

Wherever the ICBMs may have been directed, it is probable that they were fired blindly. The leaflet carried in the Chinese supply drop is probably asking Americans not to retaliate, and that the attack was definitely an inside job. We learn about this of course in episode 18.
