"I would like to add one thing regarding EMP from the origional attack. After the blast, the town of Jericho experienced failure of electrical devices. This was said to be due to the EMP (electro magnetic pulse) that occured when the gammas from the explosion were absorbed by air and ground, ...creating an EMP with a very large feild strength to burn out circuits. However, the area of impact for an EMP from a 20kt nuclear ground blast is roughly the same as that affected by the thermal radiation from the blast. So the only circuits fried by EMP would most likely have been destroyed in the actual explosion anyway. This is true unless the attack was a high air burst. wich is concidered to be only when the hight of the burst is greator than the radius of the fireball produced. In that case it is possible that the EMP could have affected a larger radius. (but still doubtfull that it would reach to Kansas) Also given the nature of this attack I assume that it was probably a ground level burst. It is very implausible that Jericho KS would have experienced any electrical failure. The seccond EMP attack that happened later in episode 6 however is valid.
