I agree with you about it not seeming possible but the thing that has always bothered me about this show is where is the radiation? If the explosion was close enough for them to see the mushroom cloud there would be radiation yet after the rain storm in one of the first episodes that person (can't remember who) touched the wet statue and that water should have been contaminated yet their hand didn't get all messed up. You guys should watch the movie The Day After if you haven't seen it already. That shows what would happen if we were nuked.
