Jericho is one of the most profound warnings to ever be televised. The plot is exceptionally plausible, and I'm terribly sorry to say, extremely likely within the next decade. Billions of people around the world hate America, some with good reason to, others because their religion says they should. Even if only a fraction of these are willing to die to destroy America, that leaves us with thousands or tens of thousands of desperate lunatics aiming to take you and me out. The US/Mexico border is basically undefended. Nuclear weapons can simply be carried or driven over the border with impunity...pay a few Mexican families good money to run across at a time of your choosing, and while the Border Patrol is attending to them, you take your goods over a few miles away. There is little reason to believe nuclear weapons are not in place in America already. Soviet Special Forces (Spetznaz) brought nuclear devices into America in the '70s and '80s...they're most likely still sitting around, somewhere, possibly under the control of the Russian intelligence community/military, or maybe even under the control of rogues with varying loyalties and motivations (pay my price, and it goes boom).

If you live in the large cities, get out while you can. Take seriously survivalist techniques and practices, such as keeping firearms & ammunition water, food, and other necessary supplies available at all times, so that your family will be able to eat & drink, and keep what you must have to survive, when the grocery store is bare shelves, mobbed by hundreds of your ill-prepared neighbors.
