To know Jericho is to love Jericho.

On October 2nd, the first season of Jericho will be released on DVD. This is our best tool at reaching our goal or a long life for Jericho.

It is the best introduction of the show for new viewers. It is the show without interruptions or missed episodes, that can be done at the leisure of the viewer. If we can get people to watch the DVD, we are going to get new viewers for season two.

DVD sales numbers are important to CBS. We have been told this by Karim Zreik.

This is an attempt to get the DVDs into the hands of as many people as possible.

First there is the ongoing Jericho DVD for the troops project. Details can be found on the message boards at:

There are other places that can use the DVDs, probably in your own community, most notably libraries, schools and hospitals.

Libraries who have DVD lending programs might need a copy of the first season. Check with your local librarian to see if they accept donations of DVDs. If they do confirm that the DVD set would go into circulation, and would not be sold or raffled off to raise money for the library. While raising money for local libraries is a good and noble endeavor, a circulating copy of the DVD set will do this cause more good then one that is sold. One other advantage to this is that your donation may be a tax deduction, confirm this with your local library.

Some hospitals lend DVDs to patients. If your local hospital does, they might be interested in a copy of Jericho.

Then there are colleges and high schools, schools in your area might also be interested in a copy of the Jericho box set.

This will be an ongoing project, just like the promotion of the show itself. While we can push to have a copy of the DVD in every library in the U.S. and Canada by the second week in October, that isn't realistic. Not all the libraries will accept donations. And the DVDs are not free. Our libraries should have copies of fine television like Jericho to lend. If it takes months rather then weeks to get them a copy so be it.
