It was the season that almost never was. On May 6, 2007, CBS announced the initial cancellation of Jericho.
Several online communities, including the official Jericho forums, launched campaigns in an effort to revive the show. Fans also sent just over 20 tons of nuts to CBS headquarters; this referred to a scene from the season one finale Why We Fight where Jake Green repeats General Anthony McAuliffe's historic phrase "Nuts!" from the Battle of Bastogne.
On June 5, 2007, CBS announced that 7 new episodes would air in 2008 to provide closure to the series.
Will is be possible to bring back Jericho on another network? Anything is possible.

To the Fans of Jericho:
Wow!
Over the past few weeks you have put forth an impressive and probably unprecedented display of passion in support of a prime time television series. You got our attention; your emails and collective voice have been heard.
As a result, CBS has ordered seven episodes of “Jericho” for mid-season next year. In success, there is the potential for more. But, for there to be more “Jericho,” we will need more viewers.
A loyal and passionate community has clearly formed around the show. But that community needs to grow. It needs to grow on the CBS Television Network, as well as on the many digital platforms where we make the show available.
We will count on you to rally around the show, to recruit new viewers with the same grass-roots energy, intensity and volume you have displayed in recent weeks.
At this time, I cannot tell you the specific date or time period that “Jericho” will return to our schedule. However, in the interim, we are working on several initiatives to help introduce the show to new audiences. This includes re-broadcasting “Jericho” on CBS this summer, streaming episodes and clips from these episodes across the CBS Audience Network (online), releasing the first season DVD on September 25 and continuing the story of Jericho in the digital world until the new episodes return. We will let you know specifics when we have them so you can pass them on.
On behalf of everyone at CBS, thank you for expressing your support of “Jericho” in such an extraordinary manner. Your protest was creative, sustained and very thoughtful and respectful in tone. You made a difference.

CBS has apparently nuked "Jericho," dismissed "Class" and closed the book on "Close to Home."
Net wasn't commenting Tuesday, but several people familiar with the situation said none of the skeins has been given a series order for next season. "Close to Home" had been considered near dead for several months now, with "Class" on the long shot list, but there had been speculation that CBS would exercise some patience with "Jericho."

Jericho Those are the latest rumors spreading around the Internet and the industry, is that The CW has all but canceled the cult favorite
Veronica Mars and that CBS is going to give a surprising second season renewal to
Jericho, which looked like it might be dead in the water.
USA Today is
reporting that a really good source is saying that
Veronica Mars is "all but dead." Critic Robert Bianco says that fellow writer Gary Levin says the
show is gone and he's "almost always right about these things." I think any buzz that the show might have had a year or so ago is now dead and a renewal is unlikely. (Isabelle
talked about this last month, too.)
As for
Jericho, SyFyPortal
says that not only will CBS renew the drama, but it will move it to a new night in the fall to get it away from
American Idol. Time will tell. The networks reveal their new schedules next month.

CBS Set To Return 'Jericho' For Season 2

The biggest trend in broadcast television in the 2006-07 television season seems to be networks' desire to put a lot of time between episodes as NBC has done with "Heroes," what ABC did with "Lost" and what CBS decided to do with "Jericho." But in terms of split seasons, it looks like those shows will go three-for-three in the renewal department.
A source tells SyFy Portal that CBS is expected to pick up "Jericho" for a second season, although it may move to a new night when fall rolls around. The show has had a tough time against competition such as "American Idol" on Fox this spring after its return, but the network has shown nothing but promise for the show, giving it a full season order when some thought it might be heading to the big one-season place in the sky.
"Jericho" stars Skeet Ulrich, Ashley Scott and Lennie James and has found ways to revitalize fears not felt since the Cold War in what seems to be a post-apocalypse Kansas. Last week, "Jericho" beat out the season finale of "Til Death," which had been finishing in the Nielsen weekly top 20 according to overnights, earning a 5.3 rating/9 share and winning the 8 p.m. time slot. That helped CBS take second place for the night, behind an "American Idol" fueled Fox.
News of a renewal would be great news for a legion of die hard fans of the show that have been behind it since the beginning, but it's unlikely that CBS -- or any other network for that matter -- will be ordering too many more story-arc dependent series such as "Jericho" as it and "Heroes" are basically the only ones of this type surviving after debuting last fall.
Of course, none of this has yet to be confirmed by CBS, so take it as you would any other rumor.
