Meet the actor: Aasif Mandvi


Background:
- A doctor who returned from Rogue River with Jake and Eric.

What we know:
- Kenchy Duwhalia was in Las Vegas when the bombs went off.
- Kenchy escaped Vegas by "throwing himself" at the Red Cross (Possibly over a police line placed to keep people from overflowing the Red Cross)
[I think he meant this figuratively, as in I threw myself on their mercy]
- He's an MD, a plastic surgeon.
- Feels guilty about saving himself over all the other people in Las Vegas. (and Rogue River)
- He likes to drink. He is always at Bailey's.
(I do not think he likes to drink, I think he drinks to avoid feeling all of the pent up rage and guilt from the Rogue River debacle)
- Does not seem to handle high pressure medical situations well, as indicated during April's surgery. He mentions that he became a plastic surgeon so as not to deal with life-threatening issues.(after Ravenwood killed all of his patients in Rogue River, he has been seeming to have a bit of a nervous breakdown)

What we don't know:
- How and why Kenchy went to Rogue River after the bombs went off.
(he went to Rogue River with the Red Cross as a volunteer via FEMA camps)
- Who Kenchy works for (if anybody).
- Where he is staying in Jericho (in one episode they indicate that the medical staff is most likely staying at the hospital)
- He looks as though he comes from an Indian lineage, but speaks with an almost British accent.
(India has been a colony of and still preserves sentimental links with Britain, lots of students still go to study in the UK & Indians love to listen to the BBC)

Relationships and connections to other characters:
- Had a long chat with Emily at Bailey's Tavern on her "wedding day".
- Provided medical treatment to Jonah at Emily's house.
- Jake seems to trust him.

Defining moments:
- Kenchy told Jake and Eric that Cipro would not be enough to help their father and recommended that they use Levaquin, as it is easier to process. That information probably saved Johnston's life.
- Kenchy was the doctor who treated Jonah's arm while Jonah was in hiding from Gray Anderson's manhunt.
- Kenchy operated on April Green during ep 1.16 Winter's End. Despite his efforts, April and her baby did not survive. Kenchy performed the operation as a favor to Jake, knowing that he could not save her.
