Some facts. All offensive special weapons are under the control of STRATCOM, which replaced SAC and added the USN part of the Triad defense. What would be needed is the correct launch and authentication codes (AKA 'football") to issue launch orders. Under COG, the chain-of-command passes down the civilian leadership to the military. This would make it theoretically possible for a small rouge group to effect a weapons release. The Missileers, boomer crews, and bomber crews will only recognize the correct codes.

I like the replies I got from the last comment I posted thanks, but there were obvious clues to me in the show. First of all when the electricity was reestablished and everybody's phone started ringing including cell phones and a recorded message from the deputy chief of homeland security was played. Then an alert message was diplayed on the TV. The lady from the IRS then stated that this was the federal government response to an attack on this scale, First bring the power back online, reestablish communication and send help. This in my view was done by the (good guys). Then a podium came on the TV. I believe that the shot of the podium has a huge significance to it, I'm not sure what it is. Then the alert sign comes back and the EMP missiles are launched and are early detonated to knock out the electricity again this was done by the (bad guys). obviously it's a civil war. The civilian satellites were not knocked out by the EMP bombs but were knocked out by military satellites.

I think your forgetting that the Nearist body of water big enough for a sub is far outside the vission of the human ye, when we see the ICBMs launched it could not have come from a sub and it's rediculous to think of it as a counter attack on a nything at sea, or ports.
If this is the case it would have to be a conglomorate effort based by a rouge General with elliments of two to three branches ,and China's support. In this Senario China is definately an enimy of the standing US gov. Definately explans the Mecinares and Hawkin's knowledge of events and insinuates that Hawkin's may be invoved with the coup ,but doesn't explain the counter attack unless it was against China, and also I don't think that a Rental Van Nuke sounds Roug US General to me, not Macho enough.... defantaely would have used Chines SF to secure American Nukes to Launch. Just too many holes in this. |
