Another thing is communication, all Conrad stations cannot withstand a nuclear strike and would be useless, only less common radio frequencies.

Most power plants are built in large cities so it's more convenient, there goes our power. And if this were really to happen, we don't have very many (if any) fallout shelters, the once almighty shelters of the Cold War era are long gone, and when Honduras had a disaster, we sent the food in the shelters to them, they all got sick from it. Any fallout shelter still standing probably would not be able to withstand the blast cause of structural damage, or would not be able to hold all the people of the now larger town.

Why haven't we built any shelters? Just because they don't want to scare the public? Look at Israel, they at least have air raid shelters, during their conflict with Lebanon, everyone could go in their, we, the US, the most powerful nation of the world has none!

I'll leave you with this. I do not think terrorists blew up the bombs, or anyone in the Middle East. I think it might have been Russia, not China, Hawkins even said it wasn't China. Or maybe it was an ally? A close ally, I know Russia is technically an ally, but someone like France, England, or Israel. This is a stretch, but maybe an African nation? Egypt, or Libya? I wouldn't think North Korea. Also India or Pakistan? I'll leave you to debate on that.
