I think this shady mulit-national corporation is behind it all. Setting the nukes and genetically engineering the virus that apparently is going to be heard more from in the next episode. Why-to gain power. Which they seem to be doing with astonishing rapidity. Far too rapid IMO without prior planning. Everything's falling into place for them way too neatly, right down to the embroidered ASA flag patches on the soldier's uniforms.

I also think it has an axis in China. Hinted at by the suspiciously friendly food drop to the citizens of Jericho.

Where the Europeans and Russians are in this I don't know. In future episodes of Jericho we may see an alliance formed between the USA, Europe and Russia. The key to the success of this alliance and the downfall of the ASA/J&R-China Axis will be the allegience of the US Navy. The Army as we have already seen is now divided between the ASA and USA. The Air Force might also have split itself up too. As witnessed by the A10 Warthog aiding the attack on the New Bern forces. It is however the Navy which could save the day in denying the ASA supplies from the world outside whilst providing the ASA with what it needs to prevail.
