Racist Survivalists
The only human beings on this earth besides Islamic extremists who would have a stake in blowing up major cities and creating an environment in which small, self-contained communities would survive in an anarchic, destroyed nation are the survivalists. While not all survivalists are racists, many are Neo-Nazis, Aryan Nation, and skinheads of various varieties. Their goal: wipe out as much of the non-white inner cities as possible and create agrarian communities conducive to separatist living and procreating the white race. Remember who didn't like Hawkins? The new mayor.

Don't forget the Farakkahn flunkies. They hate whities and could also be to blame. Kill all the white people and take over the nation. Racism goes both ways. It's just not politically correct to say that blacks and hispanics are racist too.

I don't believe that survivalists are racists. Most believe that rules and regs forced upon Americans are unconstitutional and that city folk don't seem to get it or care. Eliminate the cities, eliminate the problems and start over. Check out the United Nations Agenda 21. You'll quickly understand why survivalists are adamant about being self-sufficient and preparing for the worst. When the Federal Government starts deciding what's best for us, we are sure to be doomed sometime in the future. When common sense, reasonability, and intent of the law no longer prevails in our justice system, reasonable people think that maybe we ought to have some contingeny plans. Our 2nd amendment right is to protect us from our own gov't as well as foreign governments. Some look at gas prices, crime, illegal aliens as markers of our downfall, but take away our guns and it's all over. Hawkins would be accepted by survivalists based upon his toughness, calmness, and especially his willingness to pull the trigger and defend the town.

Hawkins is obviously a good guy but this racist conspiracy may have had some corrupt FBI/CIA in it. Initially, Hawkins seemed good, then he morphed. We are shown his safe room replete with his hard-cased computer which still functions after the EMP. During the fallout, we see his guns and his radiation suit. I gotta go back and watch this episode because weren't there MORE radiation suits? Also, at first it seemed like his wife and kids were imposters: placed there as part of a setup to ACT LIKE a real family. Now we find out Hawkiins was estranged from his wife and family, or something like that. Remember the survivor from the lake encampment and Hawkins feeds him a painful drug to question him, despite the fact that it would exacerbate the pain from his burns? Hawkins tells him, "We were only supposed to bring our families." He may be legit FBI and they pretty much knew the attack would happen. Hawkins certainly brought all the right equipment, didn't he?
