Hey y'all, I thought I'd start a new topic to try and get people chatting about the amazing CHARACTERS again. I tried posting this on JRP and got no repsonse whatesoever even though it's been a week.
Now we all know that at heart, Hawkins is extremely heroic and moral, loving freedom and patriotism more than anything. But I can't ingore the fact that he had taken many risks and done many "immoral" things in an effort to help the greater good. He shot that FBI kid, and i perosnally thought that was reasonable *can't believe I'm saying that!!!* given the situation. But some of Hawkins' actions do seem unnecessay, such as burning that house in "Oversight" and killing an innocent in doing so. Being the genius we know he is, couldn't he have found another way to pass the information to Beck without burning somebody to death in their bed? Also the question of killing Constantino (2.1) raises a lot of interesting thought. The different viewpoints of the characters is interesting...Eric is too angry to care about morality, Hawkins does not see anything wrong with revenge killing except that it could potentially blow his own cover and that of Jake's, while Beck and presumably Johnston believe that revenge killing is totally wrong. It's an age-old question, and very controversial I think. What do you all think? |

I find it hard to believe the conspriators were able to find so many willing drivers, many of whom did not look Arabic, or at least I didnt see any Middle Easterners, willing to blow themselves up.
Is it possible that when their dispatcher in "The Day Before" told them they were going to make "history", that perhaps they were told they were delivering a special medicine, or even a new book, to different locations throughout the country, but atomic boms were planted in the trucks instead? Were these unsuspecting patsies? Hawkins knew this, and had a choice: he could blow the whistle on the deal, and tell the other drivers, after which he would have been shot dead immediately, and the bombs would have all still gone off, or he could quiety take his bomb, deactivate it, get his wife and kids, and get them to safety knowing that at least Columbius wasnt going to get fried. Why wouldnt he call the authorities? It was too late, and besides, who would listen? He was to deliver the bomb to his bosses, but instead hid out in Jericho, which is why they are trying to track him down. Or maybe its the bomb plotters that are upset with him, and trying to track him down and get their nuker back.

So far, we know that he was a CIA agent who infiltrated a terrorist cell, stopped at least two of the bombs, has secured one of the bombs as evidence to the greatest crime in world history and established a rally point, Since one of his surviving associates surfaced in the second season and Major West becoming suspicious of Valante, I foresee that when the truth is uncovered, Robert Hawkins will earn as spot in history with the likes of the founding fathers and the sons of liberty.

There is no way that hawkins is tied up with ravenwood (see previous post). AND I would like to further add that he is my favorite character. He'd be my friend. Haha.

He is a Russian Mole tasked to get intelligence on American intelligence activities. He got in much deeper than anticipated and is trying to defuse the situation before the internal conspiracy to take over the USA succeeds. He wants to stop a larger nuclear war.
Thats my guess anyway. |

When Jimmy Taylor and Jake Green are snooping in Robert's basement, they open the top drawer from his desk. In it they find a whole load of badges, etc. The camera zooms in for a close peak, and one of the badges reads "ROBERT ELLIS" in the name field, followed by "AGENT". There is a name of the organization on the top of the badge, but I couldn't make it out.

CIA wanted to get the bombs from terrorists. They thought they would succeed, so they probably had not made plan for situation, where all bombs are detonated.
And now: 1) What, in the hell, is rally point? He was writing about it using CIA laptop, so can it be terrorists' rally point? 2) Why Hawkins tells he's compromised? 3) Who is who in "What is the target? Ours or theirs?" 4) Who has told "familes only"? Who is one man down?

We cant forget that whoever bombed america had to have really good reasons because an attack like this would devastate the world economy so if Korea was doing this it might just kill them as well because their economy would colapse and they would all starve

So Hawkins was to bomb Columbus? Columbus is the seat of one of the "President's". I always thought Rob was a CIA or FBI type....but what if the group he infiltrated not only was blowing the bombs but unknown to the persons delivering the bombs, one person had a bomb for a "President", a co-conspirator. Each cell may be constructed in this way! This would increase the breadth to a good percentage of the Cabinet or other bureaucrats and the bomb would provide a measure of "persuation" for the "President" in retaining power relative to the others. "The Old Man" may be Hawkins and Sarah's superior....and "The Old Man" is orchestating it all. Therefore, in an interesting twist Hawkins is a conspirator who has infiltated a conspiracy, in which there is at least one additional conspiracy of which Sarah and the "The Old Man" oppose him. Hawkins wedge is that he may have the bomb...he may be working for himself or a true patriot working truely undercover for the real government (wherever or if it exists). With turns like this... what's on the Board could be a purposeful feint until the government ferrets out the truth.

Could it be possible that america bombed itself. Maybe to stop a biological terrorist attack from destroying the world.Thats why hawkins is undercover to watch and see if the disease manifest itself in jerichos population. the basement bomb is to destroy jericho at any sign of the disease. If the incubation period pass jericho without anyone coming down with it then he has to leave and go to another place that is why he opted out he wants to stay with his family.

well I did like him much better before I knew for sure that he was one on the ones that was trying to blow america up. 5 kinda got that impression from the 'Countdown' peices. He just seems like more than a sell out and a traidor. I dont know but what does he gain from all this. If it was money why isn't he in like the Bahamas sucking down margaretias?

I think it was that sleeper cells that bombed the USA and they are being aided by the Russians. Hawkins use to be a Spy for the Russian or Eastern Country. In one of the episodes when he open his lap top the web page had some Russian or middle eastern letters suggesting that the other countries have not been attacked.

From Wikipedia:
An important GRU goal is preparation for a future war. According to Victor Suvorov and another GRU defector Stanislav Lunev, "Though most Americans do not realize it, America is penetrated by Russian military intelligence to the extent that arms caches lie in wait for use by Russian special forces". He also described a possibility that compact tactical nuclear weapons known as "suitcase bombs" are hidden in the US[2][3] and noted that "the most sensitive activity of the GRU is gathering intelligence on American leaders, and there is only one purpose for this intelligence: targeting information for spetsnaz (special forces) assassination squads [in the event of war]". The American leaders will be easily assassinated using the "suitcase bombs", according to Lunev.[2] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GRU Makes me wonder if Hawkins went over the dark side initially and just recently decided he couldn't go through with it anymore, thus explaining the Russian web site, his reluctance to follow through with the mission. Doing the double agent thing, methinks... |

I was rewatching a few episodes I downloaded to my ipod and one thing that is not listed on this profile of Hawkins is that he knew that man who had "gone BACK to denver" after the blasts and now they are "down a man".
Second was while Hawkins was typing on his computer in the small message place, on the background of the screen was a disclaimer about not reproducing anything on the website that it was fro private use only and that the company hosting the site was a company named "Mackay". Does anyone know anything about this company? Have they mentioned Mackay in any other episodes?
