On "Super Nut Tuesday", during the highest point of the "Save Jericho" campaign... Greensburg Kansas

On the day he personally roasted and delivered (with a little help from his friends at the Newark Nuts location) 3 TONS of nuts (yep, you read that right that was 6000 lbs. of fresh roasted peanuts) to the Black Rock in New York City...

The same day that the 'fan paid for' advertisements in the Hollywood Reporter and Variety came out...

The same day that the media kits put together with the help of fans were slated to arrive...

Jeff Braverman, the CEO of Nutsonline, wrote an impassioned letter to the fans of Jericho on his online blog, pleading for their assistance in helping to alleviate the horror of a real life disaster in Kansas. As a direct result of this blog, the Save Greensburg Campaign was born.

Here is a copy of that letter, lifted in it's entirety from the Nuts Online blog:

4:09 PM EDT On May 4th, at around 10 PM, a horrible tornado tore through the town of Greensburg, Kansas, leaving nothing but devastation in its wake: loss of life, injuries, 1,000 destroyed homes, 250 destroyed businesses, and 90-95% of the community wiped out. It will cost upwards of $100 million to rebuild the community, parks, streets, roads, community center, city hall, and to restore some degree of normalcy to this small town. You can see photos of the terrible disaster yourself here.

Our favorite show, Jericho, takes place in a fictitious town in Kansas that is clinging to hope and survival in a time of massive disaster. The real Kansas needs our help, too. (And note that both these terrible things happened in Kansas the same week!) Let's act with the same fierce love and dedication we've shown our favorite show!

I spoke to Steve Hewitt, the City Administrator, first thing this morning, and he said they need help desperately. NutsOnline.com wants to help. Will you join us?

NutsOnline.com will donate 10 cents per pound of all peanuts shipped in the NUTS for Jericho campaign, both retroactively and going forward. We will also donate the entirety of proceeds (about $5) from each shirt that we sell. We encourage you Jericho Fans to help out directly as well. You can make extra cash contributions along with your peanut contributions...or just on its own, right on this page. Alternately you can mail contributions directly to:

Greensburg Rebuilding Fund
Greensburg State Bank
ATT: Fans of Jericho
240 South Main St.
Greensburg, KS 67054

Guys, I think this is just wonderful. Thank you."

Mr. Braverman was heard and the fans of Jericho immediately took on the Greensburg Rebuilding Fund to go hand in hand with the Save Jericho Campaign.

By 2:45 pm the next day , fans had logged onto nutsonline.com and donated almost $6,000.00. Besides that many fans sent their donations in directly to the Greensburg effort.

Fans continued to make donations in the following weeks. Some even began to sell items on assorted online retail sites, such as Cafe Press, and donate all, or part, of their proceeds to the Fund. To date through Nutsonline's generous 10 cents per pound of nuts donation , Jericho specific item sales and straight out donations the fans of Jericho have collected over $20,400 through the Nutsonline site alone.

In addition, there is no way to track the independent donations from Jericho fans. Also, there are so many Cafe Press retailers it would be impossible to accurately track their donations either.
