Yahoo "2nd American Revolution" and youll find a link to the following article (of which I have only posted 1 paragraph):
http://www.attackthesystem.com/empirefalls.html: ""...This will be the ultimate fate of the United States and for the same reasons. Military and imperial overstretch, economic bankruptcy, rising social strife, internal corruption and an expansive police state whose purpose is to maintain the grip of a regime that is losing power; these were the features of the Soviet Union in its final years and it is an apt description of present day America as well. The only remaining question is: When will the US finally fall apart? If the present administration's ambitions for wars with Iran and Syria come into fruition, that may well be the beginning of the end. The further the neocon-led Republican Party tries to push its imperial ambitions, the more alienated the regime will become from public opinion. Americans love war, but only if their side is winning. Americans turn tail and run at the first sight of blood on their side. The US is presently losing the war in Iraq and will do even worse in the event of a war with Iran or Syria. The Democrats appear to be just about finished as any kind of opposition party. One can only imagine the political implications of a 2008 presidential election pitting John "Send in more troops" McCain or Jeb "Don't blame me for my brother" Bush or Rudy "Il Duce" Guiliani against Hillary Clinton. Would that be the end of America as we know it? Perhaps...""

I wonder what this is composed of. I would imagine that states like Tennessee, Alabama, Kentucky, and Indiana that were not nuked would have the best chance of maintaining themselves as a separate political entity from the rest of the Union. Cities like Nashville, Memphis, Birmingham, or Indianapolis would maintain some sort of functionality due to the large amount of material and infrastructure physically deposited in them that could be used to do whatever might be needed to maintain large urban populations. There are a lot of farms in the Southeast, along with the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. I seriously doubt that the EMP knocked out everything in the whole lower 48.

Hello:
In order to save the town of Jericho-Jake will have to rely on his flashbacks with his father-since Jake's father may have had prior knowledge and in-turn gives Jake some insight on how to keep and restore Jericho safe-Jake also may know something in his flashbacks of his past. Jake's father could have also left videotapes behind as well that will help Jake with Jericho's fate....the fflashbacks of his father might hold the key to Jericho's fate. Lynn |

Personally, I fear that what is being portrayed on Jericho could be a warning to the possiblity of an upheaval of our government and the rise of a 2nd American Revolution.
Jericho: Where things so bad politically that Anarchists would find it necessary to start up either civil war or another American Revolution? PERHAPS! In the Pilot episode, the comment is made on air that the presidents approval rating has dropped dramatically, into the 20's (see any tie to real world politics??). Only problem that exists: The head of of the group trying to prevent the bombs states that these are parties that normally would not work together except to throw down the government as we know it: Domestic Militia (Ravenwood), Anarchist (anyone supporting the fall of government), Religous Fanatics (extreme religous fanatics who perpetuat and preach that the only way to truly honor god and do his will is to go around blowing people up). Real World comparison: Domestic Militia, any PAID militia style organization bent on power, Anarchist - those who, like Tim Mcveigh or all those misguided idiots who are born American but turn their backs to join Religouns who support terror, and those Religouns themselves. The only problem with these groups begining a 2nd American Revolution in Jericho or in a Real World Situation is that since they are all FANATICAL GROUPS who can barely maintain order within themselves, how could they possibly lead the country to a new state, with 21 new states/territories. All this would do, in my opinion is lead to Civil War. Therefore, how can anyone state the US will be restored. We are in Jericho and would be in a real world situation be headed down a path to a point of which there may no return. Our government may not be perfect, but we are all taken care of. Mankind cannot do without leadership. We need to all make sure we are not plunged into a Jericho style situation, who of us would survive???

I noticed many similarities: The battle on the bridge against ravenwood was like concord bridge against the British. Horses are used, and neighbors are at war. Militias are formed, and vendettas as well.

I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me. A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of woes and shattered shields, when the age of men comes crashing down! But it is not this day! This day we fight! By all that you hold dear on this good Earth, I bid you stand, Men of the West!

I doubt it Johnston. I believe its Grey. Look closely at the teaser. When the comment is made "people are going to look to you for leadership" the shot is of Jake, however, the movement and setting dont support that kind of conversation. I think Johnston survives, and, since is no longer mayor, townsfolk begin to tell Johnston that people will look to him for leadership. As of yet, the townfolk arent turning to Johnston, that extreme moron Grey has asked for help, not the town. Although Grey may be the towns leader, he dont speak for the town since the town seems to be unaware of all of Greys actions. I guarantee that the townsfolk would not have supported Greys initial decision to surrender to New Bern
