The Texas Republic

The Texas Republic - Jericho

General Information:

The Texas Republic was created after the attacks, it's capital is San Antonio, Texas. The Texas Republic holds many people, guns and fuel (and not to mention our nuclear stockpile). The "Other" States of America and the Allied States of America both want to have the Texas Republic join them. If the Texas Republic joined the Allied States, the Other States will have no chance of fighting the Allied States.

The Texan Govt. was recently considering joining the ASA, but recent reports from our Intel suggest that joining them is currently inadvisable. We shall continue to watch from the sidelines. As of recent, The Texas Republic has recieved crucial evidence suggesting that the ASA government were behind the attacks against the former United States.

LONG LIVE THE LONE STAR REPUBLIC!!

The Government:

From the Red River to the Rio Grande, The Texas Republic is ruled like a Republic. It is run as a provincial govt, but is planning on elections for a new president to lead them. Counties of Texas have been arranged into small regions, to make managing the govt. easier.

The Military:

The Texas Military is rather small compared to the ASA and the USA. But the military holds many Ground Vehicles, Weapons, and Planes. The Military also has a lot of fuel thanks to Texas being home to much oil. The Texas Military is on the borders, possibly protecting people from the "HVV" and from other people as well. The Texan military is also preparing for combat, from any outside power.

National Anthem:

Texas, Our Texas
Texas, Our Texas! all hail the mighty State!
Texas, Our Texas! so wonderful so great!
Boldest and grandest, withstanding ev'ry test
O Empire wide and glorious, you stand supremely blest.

God bless you Texas! And keep you brave and strong,
That you may grow in power and worth, throughout the ages long.

Texas, O Texas! your freeborn single star,
Sends out its radiance to nations near and far,
Emblem of Freedom! it set our hearts aglow,
With thoughts of San Jacinto and glorious Alamo.

Texas, dear Texas! from tyrant grip now free,
Shines forth in splendor, your star of destiny!
Mother of heroes, we come your children true,
Proclaiming our allegiance, our faith, our love for you.

'Texas, Our Texas' has been chosen as the Texan anthem by grandfather clause having served as the office state song prior to the September attacks.Other patriotic Texan songs will be chosen for military marches, and victory songs.

WE HAVE THE POWER IN AMERICA TO SHAPE ITS FUTURE, WE ARE THE SIDE TO JOIN!

GOD BLESS TEXAS!!

I was thinking more of a cowboy type. Maybe somebody like Sam Elliot. Imagine him talking down to President Tormachio in a gravely drawl. "We ain't going to join the Allied States. We know it was you who organized the attacks and now we're coming after you."

California would probably want to forma republic after looking at what Texas did. It depends on How esy it would be but it is possible.

Hawaii, is now probably a kingdom again, forming a short-term alliance with Japan. ALaska, a republic, and allies with Russia.

I have been reading a lot of threads, and it has stricken me that so many people are not aware of the capability that Texas posesses. First a quick run down, then a little further info:

1). - Texas is *THE ONLY* state in the "former U.S." that was at one time an independent country (see The Republic of Texas at Wikipedia for more information). In 1836 Texas established itself as a soveriegn nation/state (in lamen, a country) after winning independence following the defeat of Mexican president Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna at San Jacinto (now Houston). It remained so until being annexed to the U.S.

2). - Texas is THE ONLY state in the "former U.S." that is alligned on an independent power grid. Unlike all other 48 contiguous states, Texas is on a power grid that is independent of the other main grids. This would allow Texas to establish itself (or continue operating, as it would be) with electrical power without support from the rest of the U.S. (or A.S.). It is important to note that there is no "national power grid" in the United States as well. In fact, the continental United States is divided into three main power grids:
--The Eastern Interconnect.
--The Western Interconnect.
--The Texas Interconnect.

3). Texas posesses a *massive* military potential, including: The federal Army, Air Force, and Naval bases, The Texas National Guard, The Texas State Guard (which is independent from the national guard), and the Texas Rangers. Listed are current figures for military forces in Texas. NOTE: *NONE* of the bases would have been destroyed except Dallas Naval AS accounting for about 1,500 personnel.
NAVY: • Total Personnel (mostly at Naval Air Stations): >14,000
ARMY: • Total Personnel: >60,000.
AIR FORCE: • Total Personnel: >15,000
Combined : >100,000. This only represents federal military, and not state.

Well, being here in Texas, I know that they do have a provisional government (in real life) and would be prepared to go it alone. Like Heather, I have ties to both Jericho and Texas, as I was born in Jericho but moved my parents moved to Texas when I was very young. After finding out what really happened in Jericho I made the decision to hone my writing skills and launch the 'Jericho Freepress', an underground newspaper. (I think I am picking up backstory habits from Hawkins and Jake in my new 'role')
