I was thinking more of a cowboy type. Maybe somebody like Sam Elliot. Imagine him talking down to President Tormachio in a gravely drawl. "We ain't going to join the Allied States. We know it was you who organized the attacks and now we're coming after you."

I have been reading a lot of threads, and it has stricken me that so many people are not aware of the capability that Texas posesses. First a quick run down, then a little further info:
1). - Texas is *THE ONLY* state in the "former U.S." that was at one time an independent country (see The Republic of Texas at Wikipedia for more information). In 1836 Texas established itself as a soveriegn nation/state (in lamen, a country) after winning independence following the defeat of Mexican president Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna at San Jacinto (now Houston). It remained so until being annexed to the U.S. 2). - Texas is THE ONLY state in the "former U.S." that is alligned on an independent power grid. Unlike all other 48 contiguous states, Texas is on a power grid that is independent of the other main grids. This would allow Texas to establish itself (or continue operating, as it would be) with electrical power without support from the rest of the U.S. (or A.S.). It is important to note that there is no "national power grid" in the United States as well. In fact, the continental United States is divided into three main power grids: --The Eastern Interconnect. --The Western Interconnect. --The Texas Interconnect. 3). Texas posesses a *massive* military potential, including: The federal Army, Air Force, and Naval bases, The Texas National Guard, The Texas State Guard (which is independent from the national guard), and the Texas Rangers. Listed are current figures for military forces in Texas. NOTE: *NONE* of the bases would have been destroyed except Dallas Naval AS accounting for about 1,500 personnel. NAVY: • Total Personnel (mostly at Naval Air Stations): >14,000 ARMY: • Total Personnel: >60,000. AIR FORCE: • Total Personnel: >15,000 Combined : >100,000. This only represents federal military, and not state. |

California would probably want to forma republic after looking at what Texas did. It depends on How esy it would be but it is possible.
Hawaii, is now probably a kingdom again, forming a short-term alliance with Japan. ALaska, a republic, and allies with Russia.

Well, being here in Texas, I know that they do have a provisional government (in real life) and would be prepared to go it alone. Like Heather, I have ties to both Jericho and Texas, as I was born in Jericho but moved my parents moved to Texas when I was very young. After finding out what really happened in Jericho I made the decision to hone my writing skills and launch the 'Jericho Freepress', an underground newspaper. (I think I am picking up backstory habits from Hawkins and Jake in my new 'role')
