I wrote in here back in July that CBS was making a monumental error in killing off Gerald McRaney (Johnston Green) I received the Season 1 on DVD for Christmas and had enough time off to watch the entire season. I was even more impressed having the luxury of watching the program compressed like this. This is a gripping show with an excellent story line and well developed characters. I received an extra disc with mine that included a mass interview of the writers, producer, direct and many of the actors and never once during the 30 minute program was Johnston Green's future ever mentioned. Gerald McRaney was talked about relating to his character but no mention of death, resurrection or direction of where the character was going was made. The absence of any reference to the Johnston character I thought was telling. I, we, may just get our wish. Could have been the morphine that Jake injected his father with that made him appear to die? Hummmm, I wonder?

He's dead. Carol Barbee said he might come back in flashbacks, but not in the 7 new episodes. As would happen in real life, someone else will step up to take his place. We might be pleasantly surprised. Be sure and watch starting Feb. 12 at 10:00 EST.

I just want to again add my two cents on bringing Johnston back. It is very simple. He has been alone for a bit. His wife (trained nurse) moves to give him a lovingly tragic goodbye kiss. She gently touches his face, she strokes his hair, her hand moves over his chest. Gail leans in closer, but what is this. She pulls back a little, she looks somewhat confused as her eyes move back and forth over him. In her eyes we see something. What is that? Oh my God!! Is this real? Is this a dream? Oh my God, Johnston is alive!! She starts a little CPR (which by the way no one else has tried) (Say what?). He oh so very weakly sputters up some frothy blood from his punctured lung (not a blown out aorta). She screams for Eric and Jake who just happen to be sadly telling Dr Kenchi and his triage team that dad is dead (they were summoned when dad was found behind the tank). Drama drama drama... they rush into the house and complete the kiss of life. Hazza!! Johnston is alive and begins his journey to recovery. CBS continues to be brilliant and I have my one hour of the most intelligent television possible once a week. Thank you Nina Tessler Queen of televison I praise your genius. Sincerly Dr. Anderson
