JEBS A Fallen Ranger 2-5-2013

Today we have learn of the passing of a Jericho ranger and leader, Mark Kennedy aka Ka4ist.

Ka4ist was one of the original fans from the Old CBS Jericho Forums who participated in the successful campaign to bring Jericho back for a second season. He has been supportive of Jericho through various projects since the campaign and eventually became the administrator for Radio Free Jericho, one of the major Jericho fan sites. His contributions, insights and council has helped to keep Jericho alive to be discovered by new fans. They shall not be forgotten and will be surely missed.

Operation Netflix Update

Hello Rangers,

As far as we can tell, there has been no change in the Netflix – CBS talks; they are still stalled.

Netflix is already considering new series for 2014, but is staying silent about which series are being considered. Per the recent articles, Netflix wants to launch five new series for 2014. It is possible that Netflix is considering Jericho for one of their 2014 original shows. This timing is also much more logical, since a long lead time would be needed to align all the schedules of the different actors and creative team from Jericho.

The Jericho Season 4 comic series is being published from Feb – May 2013. The season 4 graphic novel has a June 2013 publishing date.

We are asking you to continue to support Jericho by maintaining contact with Netflix and buying the Jericho comic. As we have said all along, it is the consistent (lately ever increasing) number of fans that Netflix will pay attention to. That combined with high comic sales is Jericho’s best chance of coming back.

The Season 4 comic/graphic novel will start with our Jericho family (minus one) back in Jericho along with an undercover double agent. You can order via these sources:

Netflix Customer Service Chat

Recently, a Jericho fan was in a chat with customer service and he asked about the third season of Jericho. Here is what Netflix said:

“I was able to check into that title for you, we don't have a specific time frame of when it will be released but it is being worked on. Our developers are trying to obtain the licensing.

Jericho Update and New Game Plan

November 12, 2012

Hello Fellow Rangers,

We recently have picked up some news that the talks between CBS Studios and Netflix have hit a significant snag. This time around, all our energies need to be focused on Netflix.

We need to mobilize and act fast if we are going to get Jericho back. Some have suggested we send nuts to Netflix and we have resisted because of information we received. That information is no longer valid, so NOW is the time to send out some Nut baskets to the Netflix management. Ranger K6 will be heading this up and he will provide information as to what type of nuts we will send and to whom. We would need to target the CEO/Head of Programming.

We are looking to put together an ad on Facebook that will be directed primarily at Netflix to get this deal done. We are looking for ideas and someone who would like to put it together. We will get back to everyone with the cost to run an ad.

Operation Netflix Game Plan:
1. We need everyone out there to Tweet on Twitter using @Netflix and #Jericho and let Netflix know that we want a deal worked out to get Jericho back and that we are organizing people to cancel subscriptions and boycott the service until they reach an agreement with CBS. First phrase: #bringback #JerichoOnNetflix or suffer the wrath of #Jerichofans canceling enmass (See Additional info further down this message.)

2. We need every fan to go to the Netflix Corporate Facebook Page at <<http://www.facebook.com/netflix>>
Please leave a personal message that we want the deal with CBS done to get Jericho back on the air and that because they are not getting this done you will be canceling your subscription or never getting one.

3. Starting on November 16th we need everyone out there to call Netflix Customer Service 1-866-579-7172
For faster service, log in to your Netflix account, and click on contact us (bottom of page), click on call customer support you will get your local number and your service code (account number).
Let them know that you are canceling your subscription to Netflix immediately because they can not work out the deal to make new episodes of Jericho. Please be polite, but firm, that the only reason you are canceling is because they will not work out the deal with CBS and that you are going to ask all your friends and family to do the same.

We need to act now and attack this from all sides. This fan base is the one who wrote the book on how to save a show, that is being used by fan groups for many shows including those of the Killing on AMC, The Killing fans were recently rewarded with a co-producing deal with Netflix and their show will return to AMC/Netflix.

We will win this but we need to engage every Jericho fan across the globe and do it in the next several weeks. Netflix needs to see what type of fan base we have.

JEBS Retraction

The recent unofficial news published in the last issue was inaccurate and this is our official retraction.

The fans that contacted Netflix and gave us the chat conversions were passing on news they thought was accurate. Their sources though it was accurate too. Unfortunately, things changed and we now know the statements were inaccurate.

All of this was made more difficult, since the Jericho producers can not confirm or deny matters related to the negotiations.

I know it has been six months since we first heard about the potential deal with Netflix to revive Jericho. We need to stay the course and let them know we are still here. Now that the elections are over and the Fall TV season is in full swing they will be looking at the Spring and Summer TV seasons. We need to remind them that Jericho and its millions of fans are still here waiting for it's return.

Due to the continued success of Revolution and the phenomenal success of the Walking Dead (both an adaptation of a graphic novel and post apocalyptic story lines), Jericho is a hot ready-made product for CBS Studios to capitalize on. We need to continue to get the word out and keep the pressure on CBS and Netflix.

Things certainly have changed in the last five years! CBS now wants to use the type of ratings that the Jericho fans wanted them to use. Major Beck

Information

Major beck makes his debut in 2.01 "Reconstruction." He worked for the Cheyenne Government for some time before switching sides in the season 2 finale. He helped stopped the feud between New Bern and Jericho. Thanks to Beck, Heather was hired as liaison and Jake as sheriff.

Character

As with most of Jericho's side characters, Beck is believable and well-acted. His personality seems to be understanding, but he is also a serious, focused leader. I admire Beck because he seems to care a lot about justice, and will not tolerate revenge quests.

Beck tries to control Jericho's rebellion and acts as a "bad guy" for most of season two, in the sense that he's against many of the main character's decisions. He has Heather arrested for helping Hawkins, and has Jake imprisoned and manipulated to give away Stanley's position after Goetz's murder. Heather gets through to Beck more than anyone and even makes him act despite his orders. Beck and Heather have a good friendship that could be interpreted as the beginnings of a romance. In the end, Beck chooses to help Jericho after peeking in Hawkins' laptop and discovering the real mastermind behind the attacks.

Role in the town:

A Major working for the Cheyenne government. Also, he is hunting for Sara Mason to expose her as a Terrorist. (He doesn't know she's dead.)

Operation: Jericho Resurrection Update

Hello Fellow Rangers

As you all know it has been almost 4 months since the news first broke that Netflix had approached CBS about bringing Jericho back to television via Netflix.
We have heard from numerous sources, including several key writers and producers that this is real and contrary to all the rumors out there talks are ongoing between Netflix and CBS. I truly believe that this is the best shot we have of getting Jericho back since back in June of 2007 just prior to CBS announcing that they were bringing it back for its Second Season. Back then we made history by getting CBS to change their minds and make more Jericho episodes.
In 2007 the weapons we used included the telephone, fax, written letters and the sending of thousands of pounds of nuts. After the second cancellation we upped the ante by collecting tens of thousands of dollars from fans all over the globe to take out ads in Hollywood trade publications, produce a TV commercial which we put on Time Warner Cable in LA and on the UHD Channel, put up a billboard right outside of the CBS offices in LA and sold out the Jericho Comic and Graphic Novel.

Today in 2012 we have new weapons at our disposal like Face Book, Twitter and streaming Jericho on Netflix. These tools will allow us to build a business case that Jericho is a viable product that has millions of customers for advertisers to reach across the planet.

CBS and Netflix are huge corporations which like all Corporations are run on the basic premise of how much profit they can make from money they put into making a product which they call return on investment. We need to reach the decision makes at CBS and Netflix to let them know that we are here and that all sides will make a sizeable profit making new episodes of Jericho.

The 2 keys to Jericho getting back on the radar screen are the thousands of new fans who have and continue to discover Jericho for the first time on Netflix. The second I believe is the enormous success of AMC’s The Walking Dead when it aired its second half of season 2 back in February of 2012 in 122 countries across the globe which garnered an audience of almost 17 million viewers. The huge success of this serial drama which is based on a series of graphic novels has breathed new life into the potential to make money on Jericho.

The world has changed in the past 5 years, especially American television. Like all businesses the Networks now have to look at the entire globe not just the US market when assessing the profitability and viability of programs and are looking at cable, satellite and pay services like Netflix to launch original programming to reach niche markets.

We can and will get Jericho back and we need every Ranger to contact Netflix and CBS to let them know that there are millions of customers across the globe that waiting for Jericho to return. We need everyone to act on the battle plan below. Get friends, neighbors coworkers, anyone in your circle that can reach out to CBS and Netflix and convince them to get this deal done. We need the International Fans from Canada to the UK, from Australia to South Africa and everywhere in between to help us in our final push.

One of the main reasons, I think this is going to happen, if we help push CBS and Netflix is that the writers, producers and actors have jumped on board to encourage us and ask for our help as they did back in 2007 following season 1. Do you want to let them down? I for one do not. So I am personally asking everyone who is reading this note to stick to the battle plan as outlined below, get new people to help us join the fight and push this wagon over the finish line.

Know the Players

Know the players is the first rule of problem solving. The second rule is "know what the players want". This is what I use in figuring out how to approach getting Jericho back.

The players are:
Junction Entertainment - Jericho's production company
CBS Television Studios
Netflix

What do the players want:
Junction - to make more TV shows
CBS Television Studios - to widen the list of networks that buy their shows
Neflix - to increase their subscriber base

The corporations involved need to make this a win-win scenario, since they are all looking to make a profit. The CBS-Netflix talks are happening now, since all of the players see a way to make this a win for them.

Our part is to simply to let them know we are sitll interested in Jericho!

How to Order Jericho Season 4 (in stores on 8/15)

The comic issues are released first and then the whole series is published as a graphic novel (comics in book form). The Season 4 series will have 5 issues and each issue will have two covers.

The covers are being released in a 1 to 1 ratio, so if you order two of issue #1 you will get both covers.The interior is the same for both covers, what changes is the outside cover. Many collect both covers. There is a third incentive cover and that is only available via your local comic shop.

Comics are usually ordered in advance, so that each shop knows how many they will need. At some shops, you can order the whole series in advance.

JEBS Special Comic Con Edition

Hi Everyone,

I'm leaving for Comic Con later today, so this will be very brief issue. Here is what we know:

The talks with Netflix and CBS are continuing.

Issue #1 of the season 4 comic will be late. Just a two week delay, so it it should be avialable the first week of August. I just got the preview pages to display at Comic Con.

The story does pick up right aftee the ending of seaaon 3 and there will be a third cover a "glow in the dark" mushrrom cloud. I will try to find how to get the glowing cover at the con.

So far, none of the Cast and Creatve Team have said they will be at Comic Con, so it doesn't look promising fort a big asnnouncement.

Hello Fellow Rangers,

It has been 2 weeks since the news stories started to show up from TV guide to various blogs and newspapers that Netflix was seriously interested in picking up Jericho.

We need to let Netflix know we are here and we need to be counted. We know from inside sources that the most important numbers Netflix is looking at is the number of Jericho episodes being streamed and ordered via DVD rentals We need everyone to join, get friends neighbors to join and stream, stream and stream some more!! We have discovered through research on the web, that Netflix has developed a Facebook app that auto-posts for subscribers, publicizing what movies they are watching and even making recommendations based on their friends' viewing habits. The company is lobbying hard to change a 1988 privacy law which will allow them to utilize the app in the US. It looks like they are targeting shows like Jericho, with built in fan bases, which will help them develop programming directed as specific groups.

So please join Netflix, stream those Jericho Episodes, get onto Facebook and Twitter and send those emails and post cards to Netflix.

Operation: Jericho Resurrection Update

Hello Fellow Rangers,

We have heard from numerous sources that Netflix is very interested in picking up Jericho and continuing the story. If the negotiations are succesful, then new Jericho episodes would be available, via a subscription streaming service, to your television or internet device. Netflix has already ordered more episodes of Arrested Development and they have two other series (murder mystery and poltical drama) in production.

We have a short window and we need to focus on the numbers. We've been doing this since 2008, and right now the most important numbers are the number of Jericho episodes being streamed and the DVD rentals from Netflix.

New subscribers are also important. Please make an effort to reach out to your family, friends, neighbors and ask them to join and/or to stream or rent the DVDs. You can sign up for the free 30 day trial here: <<https://signup.netflix.com/>>

Jericho Restoration Update

The Season 4 issue #1 comic will be released in July - right in time for Comic Con International. IDW is doing a rush job to get the comic done in three months. I believe this is intentional and that bigger news is in store for the Jericho Rangers.

I also want to assure the Rangers that I still have faith in Jericho and Jericho's producers, who are working to get Jericho back to the screen. I have had to lower my posting time, due to an attack of life - job hunting, house hunting and dealing with a divorce. I will continue to post as much as I can and represent Jericho at the fan table.

Jericho is on the fast track to recover!

Ranger MvM noticed that on the Amazon instant viewing page, for the Pilot at least, they list the number of 'likes' on Facebook. Amazon is obviously paying attention to FB!

The Jericho Fan Table will be at WonderCon. Our table is #F3 and we are located on the far side of the exhibitor hall, behind the gaming area.

In July 2011, IDW let us know that it was highly likely there would be a Jericho announcement at the next con (WonderCon). IDW has two panels on Friday - one at 12:30 pm and 7 pm (all times are Pacific time) and we will attend these panels and let you know what we find out.

Graphic Novel to Get SECOND Printing

The Jericho Season 3: Civil War graphic novel will get a second printing and will be released to comic shops on March 21st.

We've been told it is very likely that we will get a Jericho announcement at Wonder Con.

The Jericho Season 3: Civil War graphic novel is SOLD OUT at Amazon and IDW.

Jericho Restoration Update

Hi Rangers,

The unexpected news that the Jericho novel is sold out on both Amazon and IDW comes at just the right time. We are just five weeks away from WonderCon and that is the con we have been waiting for. For those new to the campaign:

At Comic Con 2011, IDW told us that the announcement about Jericho was postponed, but would most likely be made at the next con.

On January 8th, I notified Dan Shotz that I was telling the fans the above statement and asked him to let me know if this statement was no longer valid. As of today, Dan Shotz, has not not responded to that question, but has responded to other questions.

I do not know the nature of the announcement, however; I do believe we will get more than another comic/graphic novel.

Jericho Wikipedia articles need rescuing

At the moment, every episode of Jericho, found at Wikipedia has its own article. <<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Jericho_episodes>>

Several of these are quite elaborate; however most are only plot recaps, with no sourced information about production, reception, reviews, or any third party sources.

If the articles are not brought up to standard, they probably will be removed soon. They need work to add real-world references and citations -- not from fan sites, but cites to "respectable" media , newspapers, books, etc. Anyone who can spend the time please take a look.

So, one last time: What the Wikipedia episode articles need are respectable references: books, newspapers, big websites. Not blogs or forums or wikias.

Blow up the CBS Facebook Page

Find the CBS facebook page and blow up their page. Every day, every hour as much as you can post bring back Jericho on their Facebook page.

I say the best attempt is by taking it to their front door. It forces them to look at it. It forces them recognize that were not going away, and anyone that is subscribed to their page will see whats going on and become curious and watch the original episodes and hopefully create a Jericho craze larger then before.

Legend of the Seeker Fans Need Help

The Save Our Seeker campaign has been on for nearly two years, and wouldn't have accomplished what it has without you. It's NOT over.

An industry insider has told SaveOurSeeker.com that Legend of the Seeker Executive Producer Ken Biller, more than anyone else, is the one that we need to encourage to fight to bring back the series.

We've never written to Mr. Biller before, and he needs to understand just how hard the fandom has worked to bring the show back and how much they still want it nearly two years later.

Meet the actor: Skeet Ulrich

Character Name: Johnston Jacob Green, Jr. (Jake)

He was born : 1/21/1200(You can see it when Hawkins's searching about Jake and he reads Jake's passport).

What we know about Jake breen:

Jake is the oldest son of Gail and Johnston Green (according to Eric Green's biography on the Character Bios Eric is listed as Jake's younger brother). He's been away from his hometown of Jericho, Kansas, for five years. He has lost touch with friends and has had a falling out with his father.

Jake left Jericho shortly after the bungled robbery that resulted in the death of Chris Prowse (Emily's younger brother). During his five years away, it seems that no one (apart from Gail) has been in contact with him.

The Spring Season trailer would have us believe that at some point in the recent past, Jake might have worked as a pilot. He allegedly spent 14 months in Afghanistan and 6 months in Iraq with one of the major contractors that are over there, such as Haliburton or Blackwater, as a pilot. That is unlikely considering the level of experience one needs to work for such firms. He did claim at one point, during the Rogue River episode, to have been a truck driver which is more believable. While he was in Iraq he claims he found out about Ravenwood mercenaries. It is still unclear which company he was employed by. It is still uncertain if he resigned or was let go due to an incident that happened overseas.

The Spring Season trailer would again have us believe that when he returned to the states he looked for employment with a private airline company that transports high political officials and stars. Jake didn't take the job though because the company wanted to know what happened with his last employer and he would not divulge that information.

Also in the spring trailer he has let us know that he got his first knowledge of planes from being around his grandfather as a child and helping him out with his crop dusters. This could explain the accelerated flight skills necessary to graduate Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Daytona Beach, Florida & Prescott, Arizona) and land work in the field of overseas flying within the time frame given.

He also mentioned being trained in some sort of military school when he completed the tracheotomy on the little girl. Robert Hawkins found information that indicates his passport is flagged by the State Department.

Jake is very close-mouthed about what happened in Afghanistan/Iraq. In "Heart of Winter" he divulges to his father that he killed a young girl (about 10 or 12 years old) while in Iraq, and that he's sorry, but doesn't say anything more. Later, he asks his father to forget about what he told him but Jonah says he can't do that. Jake, then falls apart in sobs (telling us that he did some things that are hard for him to talk about) and his father tells him that they can talk whenever he's ready. Johnston tells Jake that he too has been to war and understands what it can do to a person.

As a teen, Jake was mixed up with Emily Sullivan's estranged father Jonah Prowse which led to the death of her brother Chris. During this time, Jake and Emily were seeing each other up until the death of Emily's brother at which time Jake left town. Mitchell Cafferty was also involved in this job and went to prison because of it. On Jake's return to town Emily found out that she still has strong feelings for Jake.

Emily's dad said that she should make amends with Jake. After she started to reopen her feelings to Jake, she sees Roger entering the town.

Jake has a new role in the town-- he has to lead the townspeople into war after the tragic death of his father. He will also have to take care of his mother. He did that before but now she only has him and Eric.

His Roll In Town:
Unconventional leader. Even though he has been gone for the past 5 years, he is involved in almost every action made in town. While his father always sent for Eric, the townspeople seem to have a stronger bond to Jake.

Jake: "Remember that time we set the carpet in dad's office on fire? All you had to do was stick to the story and we would have been fine."
Eric: "You wanted me to tell dad I had a seizure and knocked over his desk lamp."
(Jake laughs)
Eric: "Any other brilliant ideas to get us out of this one?"
Jake: "Not at the moment."

Episode 12: The Day Before
Jake: "How is he?" (referring to Roger)
Emily: "I think he's in shock."
Emily: "Look, Jake, um..."
Jake: "Go, he'll need you."

Episode 13: Black Jack
Heather: "Jake, we both know why it didn't work out between us. I'm not bad enough, and that's just how you tick."
Jake: "It's not."
Heather: "Yes, it is. If it weren't we would have never met on that bus."
Jake: "Just for a few days."
Heather: "Are you worried about me?"
Jake: "Come back in one piece." (hugs Heather)

Episode 14: Heart of Winter
Mimi: "Jake, are you okay?"
Jake: "What happened?"
Mimi: "Stanley's not moving."

(truck comes speeding towards their crashed vehicle)
Jake: "Go hide. Go hide!" (Throws water bottles and flashlights toward Mimi and tries to free himself from the truck. Acts dead while the people from the other truck take everything.)

Kenchy: "I don't care! I am not going through this anymore. It is madness!"
Jake: "And everyone here can just go to hell? Huh? If you stop trying and I stop, then they see that. And this whole thing falls apart. We're all leaning on each other here, whether you like it or not!"
Kenchy: "Promise me you are not saying that we are all connected! This is not some existential web of life b.s! That is not what I'm hearing, is it Jake?"
Jake: "Then tell me what you want to hear.Cause I'll say anything. If you'll just go back in there and keep trying."
Kenchy: "She's going to die."
Jake: "I know."

Romance:
Jake and Emily were an item in high school and he apparently proposed to her but they "knew enough not to go through with it." (Their song was "Nothing Compares 2 U" by Sinead O'Connor -- a good explanation of the relationship). Emily has a fiance, but Jake clearly still has feelings for her. Emily, obviously still has feelings for him, too. Making the situation even more complicated is a romantic interest from Heather Lisinski, whom Jake rescued (along with her class of students) in the pilot episode. Jake is beginning to return her affections.

JAKE AND EMILY KISS
Jake can't stop avoiding his feelings and kisses Emily in the season finale... trouble now that Heather is back and realizes that Jake loves Emily... This is a good kiss!

THE KISS!
Before leaving for Rogue River to obtain needed medicine for his father, Jake was surprised when Heather gave him a little unexpected something to come back to... THIS IS A GREAT KISS!

Throughout season 1 Jake and Heather's characters pop off the screen particularly in the scenes they have together.

Last July, IDW let us know that there would most likely be an announcement at the next con. WonderCon is the "next con". I recently let Dan Shotz know that I've been leting fans know what IDW said. I told Dan if this statement is no longer correct, then I need a new statement. It's been two weeks and so far no new statement has been issued.

Ranger Redsox has suggested that we make some noise for the anniversary of Jeircho's second season:

Jericho Restoration Update

Welcome to 2012, the ultimant apocalpytic year!

Jericho is still alive and kicking:
• The graphic novel is currently #7 on the Amazon Bestseller Science Fiction Graphic Novel List
• The Official Jericho Facebook Page has 130,328 fans and it is still growing
• There are new fans coming to the Facebook Page every day and a lot are still buying the graphic novel.
The Jericho Fan Table is gearing up for WonderCon in March. IDW has aleady given us a new contact and donated a signed copy of the graphic nvoel for our raffle
At Comic Con 2011, IDW told us that the Jericho announcement had been postponed and would most likely be made at the NEXT Con. The next con for IDW is WonderCon!
I have high hopes for Jericho this year and my new slogan is "Jericho in 2012".

Jericho Wikipedia articles need rescuing

At the moment, every episode of Jericho, found at Wikipedia
(<<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Jericho_episodes>>) has its own article. Several of these are quite elaborate; however most are only plot recaps, with no sourced information about production, reception, reviews, or any third party sources.

If the articles are not brought up to standard, they probably will be removed soon. They need work to add real-world references and citations -- not from fan sites, but cites to "respectable" media , newspapers, books, etc. Anyone who can spend the time please take a look.
