UN? What about NATO?
Lets think about this, the attacks would of taken out foreign embassies thefor an act of illegal war against that nation. By this law alone, NATO will help the USA.

how did this come to be in the first place
I don't see how these factions started. in the event of a major attack, there is a secretive government organization known as the National Program Office. it provides what is known as "continuity of government" in other words, a backup government if our constitution fails. In the situation that Washington is bombed by suprise (known as decapitation) an unnamed person would assume the presidency and IF NESSASARY could dissolve whats left of the congress, declare martial law and appoint all the officals he needs. I beleive that as long as our constitution is in effect (as is implied for the U.S.A), nothing could push the states to session. If under the N.P.O things become to strict, i beleive that american soldiers would have a hard time taking up arms against other Americans and therefore would not follow such orders. I also beleive that the American people would not allow things to get this far.

Battle of Salt Lake
The great salt lake comprised of many resources. Especially the wonderful substance, Salt. It was also widely untouched during the September bombings. This made it a target between Cheyenne based forces and Western Revolutionists. As of yet the outcoem of the battle is undetermined as both the ASA and the Reolutionaries continue to send forces into the area.

Must I choose?
In the last episode, Jake states that with Texas shooting down the two ASA fighters, we are in the second Civil War. Isn't that a bit like saying 9/11 was a Second Pearl Harbor? Neither event was something which consumed a huge part of the society.
Yes, the 23 cities destroyed by the atomic weapons was a huge event, all happening at once, and yet the show singles out one perpetrator, a mole, if you will, inside the government. Everything which follows, even Ravenwood, is a reaction to the event. It's a little too early to say that this means the event was coordinated by the corrupt system. The more intelligent response would be, perhaps, revolt. The people of the country had nothing to do with it. It isn't a polarized society, divided between slaveholders (and sharecroppers) and free members of the industrial north (their ranks swelled with immigrants). There are no good wars. A few astute people have envisioned ways in which the Civil War could have been avoided. Jake's "This means war" attitude might well resemble the excitement of the young men at Scarlett O'Hara's barbeque, who whoop and holler that war has started. It's not a mature response. 9/11 set off a train of events which landed us in Iraq, and helped to foment their civil war, or whatever it is. I could not wish that on my country, no matter how corrupt our leaders. People within the ASA boundary lines are simply unlucky enough to be caught in the way of someone's plans. Do you believe "John Smith" - that he wants to take out Cheyenne? Or is he really in bed with Jennings and Rall? Tune in for Season Three. But I really don't think the American people deserve Another Civil War, anymore than, based on 9/11, the Other Pearl Harbor, we deserve WWIII (nor do the Iraqis and Afghans deserve it). War is politics by other means (Clausewitz). We can still do politics in Jericho.

A.S.A. Army Uniform Changes in episode 6.
I noticed in episode 6 that there were changes to the A.S.A. Army ACU uniforms.
1. They now where subdued 10th Mountain Div. Patches on the left side. 2. They moved the A.S.A. Flag patch tot he right side and subdued it. 3. They now where A.S. Army Name Tapes instead of U.S. Army Name Tapes on their ACUs and CIRAS Vests.
It jumped out at me seeing the changes on Major Beck's uniform. I think it means what side he is on or that the writers/production staff caught the mistake and corrected it.
I also have an issue with the Marines being shown in the show. They're not showing them with proper gear load outs and same with the Army Units. Both the USMC and the US Army issue the Interceptor Vest and not the CIRAS vest. The Interceptor Vest is a front opening vest. It opens like a button down shirt. The CIRAS goes over the person like a Sandwich Board that people use to advertise on street corners. Also the USMC issues all of their gear in Coyote Brown, not black. The helmets are OD Green as their base color and all USMC wear either the Woodland MARPAT or Desert MARPAT Helmets covers. Some of the older reserve units might still have the older Woodland Pattern or DCU Pattern BDUs and Helmet Covers. Lastly the USMC does not allow the wearing of black boots with the Woodland MARPAT Uniform. They issue Coyote Brown Combat Boots. Black Combat Boots are only allowed to be worn with the older Woodland Pattern BDUs.
Now even though these troops are A.S.A. that does not mean that the A.S.A. would go out and buy a complete new set of gear and uniforms for the troops. They would be working off of U.S.A. material and goods. When the War of Northern Aggression happened. The Confederate States of America did use surplus Union supplies and uniforms. So I think the A.S.A. would do the same.
I'm a uniform freak and things like that stick out to me all the time. I guess that because I was prior US Army and currently a Police Officer.

TEXAS REPUBLIC
I am already here in Texas and waiting for Chavez. I believe that Texas has all the resources ncessary to be on their own and it also makes sense that Texas would be the likely place to begin the 'reconstruction' of the country, as it is right smack dab in the middle.

Debate Part 1
Ladies and Gentlemen of the Allied States of America and the world. What happened this past September was to say the least tragic. We are re-building day by day, although we lost millions of people and hundreds of years of history in one moment, the one thing that these cowards didn't do was take away the spirt.
As president, I will take charge on many issues. I will address right away nation security and power.
Here are my stance on the following topics.
Issues: National Security, re-unification, re-establishing the economy, and becomming the most powerful nation ever.
Economy: Out sourcing isn't the answer, generating jobs in the ASA is most important, restablish a currency with a more favorable trade.
Foreign Policy: Strenghen ties with NATO, Germany, China, Russia and other pre-attack allies. Taking the stance of zero-tollerance against any and all threats.
Reconstruction: Get civil enginers to assist in affected but recoverable cities like Las Vegas.
Radiation: Use the cutting-edge technoligy that is being used by J&R.
Power: Use the resources of J&R along with BT, Hydro Canada, as well as working out a deal with the Texas Republic to get enginers contracted to help as well.
Health Care: Follow what was done in Ireland. Free health care but have the best treatment possible.
Ravenwood and other mercenary groups: Tried in a military court as enemy combatants and have them pay for the victims survivors.
Jobs: IT, Networking (TV, Internet, Radio, Telecommunications), Construction, Transportation, Education, Food & Health Services.
Constitution: The new version should be based on the current version, with updating certain parts. For example, In a crisis like this, the President is in charge, and if the government is destroyed, General of the Military is in charge.
Terrorist.: Zero tollerance! We will hold countries accountable.

What happened to Canada?
I think the effects of the attacks on Canada would have been strongly felt North of the Border. The economic impact would be such that Canada would have to turn to the European Union, Japan, or China for assistance. All major Canadian cities would be left intact except for Windsor, Ontario. If there were a nuclear blast in Detroit, Windsor would also take a direct hit considering they are just across the Detroit River. Thousands on the Ontario side would also be killed or injured. The survivors would have to be evacuated. The Federal government in Ottawa would likely declare a State of Emergency nationwide out of fear that Canada maybe next for a terrorist attack. The EMP blast affected only those in extreme Southern Canada (within 50-100 miles of the border).
As far as who is Canada going to support between the American factions, it would be too early to tell. Most likely, Canada would sit it out until either the Eastern States or the ASA comes out on top.
Any Canadian theories out there?

Mock Election times
I would like to suggest that the mock election deabtes slash canidates nomination thing go on till after episode 5 of season two, a voting to bring out two-three people of the popular vote, while having debates during this. Then, we have campaigning till end of episode six, and have a week for the polls to be open.
If anyone has a better suggestion, please voice it.

Treason
While I've never served myself, I do believe that every member of the US armed forces swears an oath to the uphold the us constitution. With that in mind the only legitimate government after the attacks would be the one led by the next in line for the Presidency of the United States. The constitution is very clear on the order of succession. In addition, there are protocols in place for the replacement of the legislative branch members killed in such a disaster. While there would be some delay, it wouldn't take very long for the true "President" to be identified as well as the surviving other members of congress and the Supreme court.
With all the above in mind and my first comment about the oath and duty of our service men and women, wouldn't it be treason for any of them to support the effort to create the Allied States of America? Now there has to be some assumption that there are some generals involved in the plot but I can't believe that all military units west of the Mississippi would just fall in lock step with the Allied government. Are they just following orders and assuming their generals know the correct course of action? Not to mention I don't believe the Secret Service would support it. This is the only part of the storyline that has been bugging me.
Well that and the EMP that went off in season one weeks after the initial explosion without an explanation or question from the townspeople as to the cause of the EMP.
Okay one other thing. When the missiles were launched against Korea and Iran, who had the codes? is it conceivable that there were 2 sets in the hands of both Presidents? Or was it the president of the US who initiated. I don't think local commanders could initiate a launch sequence.
Okay so if anyone has some good theories on the above, I would like to hear them

Incorrect "blue line"
The mississippi river is on the west side of Illinois which should put Illinois and Wisconsin in the OSA and not the ASA.

Hmmmm....
Well, it was pretty obvious to me after episode 18 who had orchestrated the bombs and for what reason they did it. It was a group of people who created the conspiracy of a 'terrorist attack' in order to shove the government into disarray. They used that confusion to fill a power vacuum that had been created in the aftermath of the bomb detonations (did you simply think it was coincidence that the EMP went off right before a representative of the USA, not the ASA, was about to address the nation?, the ASA government didn't want the people to have the information that the USA was going to give them). Anyway, the unfortunate thing is that most people, who are starving and freezing, simply want an end to their suffering. Most of the time it doesn't matter what history book they read or what their constitution says. It seems to me that this new government, the ASA is an ultra-conservative, militant, aggressive, imperialist, authoritarian regime. Although Classical Liberalism has it's flaws as well, I'd have to say that I'd stick it out with the old regime as best as possible. Another problem comes with the ASA military believing the lies that the government tells them...and as Beck says "[He] has the power to make this stick!"

He's a Major, not a General...
...Oops. The ASA lackey is a Major not a General. However, "lackey" may mean he's in on the attacks or - probably the case - a pawn for now who may be later called upon to help set things right...

relocation
on my birth certificate i was born at Lackland AFB, in San Antonio and currently i'm living in tennessee. That poses an interesting question about whether i would or should or considering that tennessee is in the United States and Texas has reverted back to a Republic. Also I have read on the pages about the United States that it has less guns than the Allied States but the United States on the map has alot of what I would consider the traditional south such as Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Florida, etc.
