Season 3?
Feb 13 2008, 11:09 PM EST
Has anybody heard anything about how the first show of the second season did ratings-wise? Is there any chance that Jericho will be returning for a full 3rd season? Maybe there's somebody out there that washes the car of the president of CBS and might have overheard something. Any info? 16  out of 22 found this valuable. Do you?

Yes the ratings sucked they have been posted in more then 1 wiki post we only got 7 million viewers. Looks like CBS made these 7 episodes to wrap the show up.

Ummm, DUH! Jericho isnt the type of show that you can have 5-8 seasons for! While i would love that, there is the simple problem.

Eventually, things would go back to normal, or as back to normal as possible after what happened. Even if the ratings were out through the roof of the ex-twin towers, theyd probally end it with season three! And how is it that SEVEN epsiodes constitutes a season? Its a mid season replacement!!

Actually the premier hit 11.66 million viewers, not a runaway hit, but a 71% improvement over the shows in the same time slot last year (still standing/yes dear). Season 3 is still a dream, but with the shake-up of the writer's strike alot of shows with bigger-name talent are gone. A show like Jericho could be picked up agian if it does well enough in its time slot to sell advertising, and its lesser known actors don't get better offers. I upgrade our chances of seeing season 3 a few percentage points. 22  out of 22 found this valuable. Do you?

The season 2 premier only got 7.12 million viewers. Season 1 episode 1 got 11.66 million viewers that is a decrease not a increase.. So I highly doubt there is any chance in a real season.

I think that the time slot is bust. How many "Big Brother" viewers are going to stay and watch Jericho. Now if they moved it down one stol and made it follow NCIS, I think we would have had a much better audience. And yes, it seems to me that CBS may only want to do the 7 more shows and get out because if they do following Big Brother is a perfect way to kill the series. 16  out of 16 found this valuable. Ratings-wise, I have seen both that Jericho is doing well, and that viewership is down.

Unfortunately, unless there's someone out there with access to overnights and doesn't mind sharing them, we'll never know for sure...

That is, until CBS announces their intentions.

Since it's been picked up on Sci-Fi now, maybe if CBS cancels it, Sci-Fi will pick it up. Wherever the show goes, I, for one, will follow...

I'm with Van on this one. No one really knows how the shows are doing until the Networks or Nielson releases them on their weekly release. Either way its not looking good for Jericho which is a huge bummer. Even with Bonnie's death and Mimi in the hospital it looks like they are getting ready to end it which is awful. However there are some rumors circulating that Jericho is doing well with Sci-Fi and TNT is also looking into picking up the show. Whatever happens I will follow Jericho to the end. Lets just all hope for the best!!!

Jericho could certainly have 5-8 seaons. There are so many twists and turns to this story that Jericho could easily last for 5-8 seasons. Jericho has fantastic writers/directors and crew and an outstanding cast. 19  out of 20 found this valuable. Do you?

I wouldn't put any stock in the report of the ratings or viewership. Someone wants the show to come to a halt because it is to REAL. However, WE, THE PEOPLE, need to protest so CBS will bring back a show that has substance and throw out their shows that are garbage and should be flushed down the proverbial toilet. 16  out of 20 found this valuable. Season 2 is great. I hope CBS renews the show. If it were a book, it should be considered a classic, and required reading for civics classe.. 12  out of 12 found this valuable. Do you?

Some good news on the ratings front. From the The Futon Critic (http://www.thefutoncritic.com/news.aspx?id=20080304cbs04):

"JERICHO" AND "BIG BROTHER" ADD MILLIONS OF VIEWERS ACROSS MULTIPLE PLATFORMS

On-Air + Online + On-DVR = Many More Eyeballs and Double Digit Percentage Demo Increases

"Jericho" and "Big Brother" Viewer Engagement Across Multi-Platforms Is Far Greater Than Initial Same Day Ratings Indicate

On-air, online and on-DVR viewing are resulting in many more eyeballs for CBS series JERICHO and BIG BROTHER, according to Nielsen Live Plus 7-Day ratings and new data from CBS Interactive Research.

JERICHO:

According to Nielsen Live Plus 7-Day ratings, JERICHO's second season premiere (Feb. 12) ratings increased by +15% in adults 18-49 (3.0/07 from 2.6/07), +17% in adults 25-54 (3.5/08 from 3.0/07) and by more than one million viewers (8.14m from 7.13m, +14%) compared to its live plus same day ratings.

According to CBS Interactive Research, the second season premiere episode of JERICHO was streamed 520,000 times across the CBS Audience Network during its first week (Feb. 12-18) and 700,000 times over a 14-day period (Feb. 12-25).

JERICHO's other online engagement during its second season premiere week included 760,000 streams of episodes from its first season and 130,000 streams of various clips, upping JERICHO's first week cumulative streams to 1.41 million.

Additional online engagement for JERICHO that week included five times the volume of JERICHO searches vs. the prior four weeks, seven times the daily traffic to JERICHO message boards (compared to mid-January traffic) and three times the average daily blog posts.

Does anyone else question the rating system? How is it a bunch of reruns are getting higher ratings than first runs? Then theres that crap of American Idol that seems to keep getting more and more viewers every time WHY? I turned it on 1 time for maybe 2 min. and wanted to take a shotgun to my TV. 20  out of 20 found this valuable. Do you?

This is great, they are taking notice, and the ratings are good in key Demo's. Finnally, the disonsaur executive are realizing that we live in a multi-media world and Jericho crosses those markets.

I'm one of those peopl who watch every episode 3 times, once on TV, once online and again online with the commentary.

Have to be careful what we wish for. We may want more seasons but not if they are done badly and it becomes nothing more than a SOAP with the name Jericho. Some series that move to niche channels retain nothing more but the name of the show, the show itself bears no resemblence to what went before. 9  out of 10 found this valuable. Do you?
