The United States of America
Feb 16 2008, 4:54 AM EST | Post edited: Feb 16 2008, 4:54 AM EST
The United States of America has been under attack before.
Our capital has been burned down before.
Factions looked to break up this great nation into parts that are less before.
As we have always done, at the end we will stay united, stay strong, and continue with this great experiment.
At the end of the day Texas will be part of what makes the United States of America great.

Hopefully they side with the eastern states, or we'll be united in a facist state.

Texas was not part of the United States during that war either. The other thing to remember about that war is that our most significant victory came 3 weeks after the peace treaty was signed. 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

"Texas" did not exist during the war of 1812. It was part of Mexico and the culture that has become the Texas we know and love today was still developing.
The very nature of what makes the United States great came out in that war. We were ignorantly arrogant, we toughed it out through difficult odds, and we won several significant victories (a couple of them before the Treaty of Ghent was signed).
Texas wanted to be part of the U.S. then and I can't believe would want anything else now.

Depends on what KIND of U.S. they're being asked to join. One with a "suspended" Bill of Rights, perhaps? Oh sure, the ASA may pretend to be a popular democracy, but "the iron fist in the velvet glove" may be a more apt description. Heck, it took Texas 9 years of independence to join the U.S. in the first place because they wanted to retain control of their public lands, instead of handing them over to the Federal goverment. 3  out of 3 found this valuable. Roger that Sarfatti!
Makes sense to see if the ol' USA is for real.
Tough to put your mind into what the folks in Texas would be thinking at this point, but one would hope that they could see through the ASA.
Probably just picking up their lives though. Not really caring about governments, just want normalcy.

One thing I don't like is this ASA "Constitutional Convention." The 1787 CC went hog wild behind closed doors and gave ALL rights to the government and none to the people. The price the states put on ratifying the darn thing was a Bill of Rights to be added later. The Constitution allows for another CC to be called, but no one wants to risk it because they could go hog wild again. Well, the ASA found a way to get around THAT, didn't they? 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

Well i can see where you're coming from, however the A.S.A is too much of a problem to be left alone. Think of it this way: it's 1940, Texas and the orignial U.S are England and the A.S.A. is Germany.

That's what it comes down to, I guess. Because from what we have seen of ASA, their open behavior and their still secret agendas, as well as their sharp trading about land, means they have the earmarks of a fascist state. Fascism as they said in the 1930's was corporatism: that is, a state by and for the corporation, in which the organization is top-down, and those on the bottom must fall into line or die. There is no well-defined set of brakes on the power at the top, no checks and balances, no co-equal branches of government. It is all secrecy and power. Even if it is something newer than fascism, with more bells and whistles, it is as old as tyranny ever was. 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

I'm with you all the way! I say if they don't respond to our polite requests we do what we did before.
Make our voices heard by sending them more nuts!
If someone gets the information needed to send the nuts to please inform me so I can do so as well.

I taped and just watched the last show last night.
What a great show. I knew the Texas Air National Guard was going to save the day.

"I hope whatever you are carrying is important. I think I just started a war with Cheyenne." ...Love it.
