Heck I like the world. Although most of my travels have been to the west of my home. I just made a recent trip to North Africa. Do you find this valuable?

42. Anti American UN??

Interesting, are all the people saying the UN is "anti-american" from America?.
And are all those saying the UN is either neutral or pro-American from elsewhere?

Anyway, yes it'd be interesting to see where the UN is in all this. And all the other allies.
I wrote to Granada TV yesterday (they own or are owned partly by ITV, the UK distributors of Jericho) asking them to make their own series as a "parallel" to Jericho.
ie:
* Start 2 years ago with the bombings,
* tell the story of international reaction and aid, UN involvement
* the story of what happens in the middle east and asia generally,
* a company called JNR winning the rights to funnel international aid?
* why the states reformed individually and then don't unite (was there no communication?!?)
* the sudden (?) bombing of North Korea.
It'd be a great story. Not sure whether it could be pulled off...

Even in a TV show...fantasy, the UN is worthless. Like they said in the show they are on the blue line fishing for food on the Mississippi River. 2  out of 4 found this valuable. Do you?

What i meant is that if we (USA) stopped funding , supplying and manning the UN troops.....the UN would fizzle out....
I remember a few years ago when a young soldier stationed in europe refused to wear a blue beanie, they tried to crusify him (courtmarshall).....And as far as the JERICHO world..excuse me didnt new york get a neuc, maybe not ,but after the hell of loss of services and electricity after the EMP pretty sure the millions in the big apple were gnawing on each others bones? as for communications...unless carefully protected every thing with circuitry more complex than a lamp will be fried and useless at least on our side of the planet.

Watch the movie "Black Hawk Down" and how 1 division of rangers with the help of delta saved 2000 Pakistani UN soilders. The movie wasn't about the UN peace keepers......

Isn't it kind of curious that almost everything in Cheyenne is working fine? All the ambulances, police cars, all the cranes on the skyline, all the jets. Gee did they not get an EMP in that area? I know there would be surviving equipment since the EMP wasn't nationwide, but it seems somebody dropped the continuity thread of the show. Of course it makes for a lot more possible stories on the next version of Jericho!!!!!!

Not everything! Protection of circuits is not really all that hard. For one if it is not on, not plugged in, and inside small chance of harm.

Hey man
I live in Cheyenne...have for the last 22 years since the AF transfered us here in '86.....the tallest building in town may have 14 stories....
and since we've been in drought for the last 8 years, and dont have enough water for a meat packing plant that would have brought in jobs...I'd really like to know how Cheyenne is supporting 800,000 folk when we normally have just under 60,000???? The "city" shots are strange to say the least .....but this is a story.....I think there would have been great potential story lines in the sudden growth/displacement in and around cheyenne and other places in the country.

and you unplug every thing after use?all the time...most electronics today have instant on features that basicly keeps every thing power applied so we can avoid the "warm up" time our parents had to deal with...check it out turn off your computer and look, lil green light keeps the mother board going unless its unplugged....multiply that times all the clocks tvs stereos and cell phones not to mention elevators escalators etc. how hard would it be to walk out of even a medium city like denver with 2 mil other folk trying to do the same......AS far as not that hard to protect? well copper mesh costs money. 0  out of 2 found this valuable. The warm up period was a result of tubes vs circuits! Computers contain batteries to maintain certain function. Means circuits are always powered.
Copper mesh is not the only protection. Check it out.

Ive heard of Amerika, i always wanted to see it, but from what i read about the UN in Amerika, the USSR owned them.
Ever heard of Wingman? Its a book about the aftermath of WW3 and how this ace pilot Hawk Hunter tries to reunite America from the evil soviet warlords, and it really feels more like Jericho than Amerika.

too true about the tubes, but capasitors also have to charge and ...batteries means power applied. DC AC doesnt matter still fried from EMP.... 0  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

Wingman was more about gangs, ala Roadwarrior, than the evil commies.
BTW you spelled USA incorrectly.

Largely, yes. But why the insistence that an EMP is 100% successful? Nothing is 100% successful. Capacitors hold a charge until called upon to release, which is general all of it. Capacitors are binary, 1 or 0. 0  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

EMP... Do a little research before you engage your brain and exercise your finger to type.

Starting with a short intense burst of gamma rays, an EMP is produced from a nuclear detonation. As the gamma rays interact with the atoms in the air molecules (Compton Effect) they ionize the atmosphere and generate a powerful electric field. EMP strength is highly dependant on ALTITUDE! Above 10,000 feet an EMP is strongest and is significant at the surface. However, in between that EMPs are for the most part insignificant.

Hers is how am EMP works:
First of all, EMP is line of sight and that is the reason they are usually planned to be used as High Altitude Electromagnetic Pulses (HEMP).
Now then, you will hear a sharp crack in the distance and by the time your brain tells you that it wasn’t a gun shot, you will be living in the past. The world as you have grown up to live in will be shattered. Anything fluorescent will start to glow and the aroma or melted plastic will fill the air. Anything with a battery in it will be overloaded and your laptops will be NUKIFRIED. Then when you realize what just happened, you notice that all the cars are stopped, the trains aren’t moving and the airplanes are starting to fall from the sky like dead birds. No more internal combustion engines work (except a few diesels). You yourself won’t feel any different except for the fact that what you knew is GONE. Everything you know is obsolete and you must relearn how to do things. Department store refers shut down and food is going bad, meat is rancid, milk is sour and worst of all, my BEER IS GETTING WARM!

Research shows that a “single” EMP at 200 miles above Kansas can and will affect the ENTIRE United States. Small UNPLUGGED radios (like the FBR, CB and other handhelds will be mostly unaffected).

NATO and the UN are dilapidated organizations that should be disband to save the world money. NATO is no longer needed because Ronald Reagan beat the Russians at their own game and in the speaking of ONE SENTENCE, the Soviet Union FELL. (Mr. Gorbechev TEAR DOWN THIS WALL. And Russia fell. J) Furthermore, the function of the UN has proven time and again to be nothing more than mediocre. They have failed to produce results in most of the “Hot Spots” they are put in. Someone mentioned “Black Hawk Down”. (rolling eyes) This coming from a Marine attached to the 24th MEU and involved in Operation Restore Hope and Continue Hope and was SOUTH of Mogadishu when the Black Hawks were shot down. The ONLY thing the UN accomplished in Somalia was saving the US Army personnel. However, they failed to ACT at the moment of request and it took them HOURS to get to the AO (Area of Operation). Tactically they sucked! They basically needed permission from the Pakistani UN commander’s mother to send her son into a combat zone. GET REAL! If you want more UN debacles look them up for yourself because they are NUMEROUS.

As far a Jericho in all of this. The UN can NOT pick a side because they are ordered to an area according to a UN meeting of the minds. The UN is controlled by a very specific charter and can only do what the many nations agree on. And for the most part it is Anti US even though the US is one of the permanent voting members along with China (lol), France (lol), the Russian Federation (WHAT), the UK and the United States. China, Mr. Human rights violations himself? France, Mr. I can’t fight a war myself and win because I need the French Foreign Legion to do my dirty work. And the Russian Federation formerly known as the USSR minus all the break away nations, they HATE US for crying out loud because we stand for everything they do not. Now lets get to the current non permanent members shall we. Belgium, Indonesia, SOUTH AFRICA (ha hah ha, more human rights violations), Burkina Faso (they have more emigration than IMIGRATION), Italy, Vietnam (shall I say more), Costa Rica, Libyan Arab Jamahiriya (Libya, Muammar Gaddafi ring a bell), Croatia (a country since ONLY 1991) and Panama. Tell me, how many of those are ANTI US. Uhmm, I say 5-6 possibly 7 of the 15. For years now the US congress has failed or refused to approve spending the money on the UN dues to force the UN to even listen to us. Currently the US owes the UN over 1.3 BILLION. Do you really think they would come to help us if Jericho really happened? I don’t.
