My definition of a false flag op

This would be an event designed (either as a Wag the Dog hoax or with real casualties produced) with a propaganda effect in mind, to turn the population against some people or nation. The actual perpetrators would be domestic, and they would come either from the highest levels of government or be in a position to manipulate that top layer so that they could achieve pinning the event on the designated fall guy.

The purpose of the provocation would be to go to war with some country which had never harmed one (at least not this time), or to achieve power over a group within the country , or to achieve a coup d'etat which would allow someone to stage-manage changes to the government. Do you find this valuable?
