Possible Network Brainstorm Thread
Mar 25 2008, 4:45 PM EDT
Let's list some of the networks that could take Jericho and why:CW - already partially owned by the CBS corporation, they have kept shows like Supernatural and Smallville on for longer than others would have. USA - They have some top-notch original programming. Sci-Fi - They already have every episode made. Plus, Stargate was pretty cool. 16 out of 16 found this valuable. Do you?

which episode was this? It wasn't closer but I wouldn't call it a big cliffhanger either..... I think it was good because if this is the end (hope not) its good enough but it opens the door for another season.....

Sci-Fi is good because they are cable and have a little bit different view on things so they would be able to think out of the box..... CBS is a network and I was surprised they even bought the rights to this show.... come on Jennings and Rall sounded a lot like the company that are VP was CEO of, Ravenwood sounded a lot like Blackwatter USA as well as other private contractors.... I am willing to bet that there was some big wigs unhappy with CBS for buying this show.... However I think everybody should watch this show for 2 reasons. 1 to realize what can happen and 2 to learn what to do if/when something like this does happen....

I mean wasn't Rummy Air Force? Wasn't he a crony of Cheney and the contractor crowd? But the nice thing about tv, which is something I heard from a famous tv writer, now deceased, was that he always loved to be able to get things into the script and get it shot before anyone could complain. There it was, right on the screen, and he probably got the same sort of pleasure you can feel in saying unacceptable things (to the powers that be) while writing online. I mean it's not like you have an editor most of the time, looking over your shoulder, as you do in print. And tv has (or had) that over the film medium. Just moves too fast for the sponsor to censor. I think the teaching function of the series (and it could be used for that) is to show that there are certain principles by which we run THIS society, not some pie in the sky in sci-fi, not the Starship Enterprise, but our own country, and that when we see them violated, it is our right and duty to remove from office or power those which violate them. If they claim they are providing us security, we had better examine what they mean by that, and whether we are getting it because they have crossed the line - the Rubicon, if you will - and are more of a protection racket than protectors. Powerful people will always step over the line, but to keep them from getting out of hand, they must be called to account. When all of a sudden, they are putting us on the defensive, you know something stinks. The various games are there to see in Jericho. Of course, there have been earlier, most emotional appeals (such as Braveheart and The Patriot), but this show has a lot more practical suggestions. It is less glamorous and glittering to the eye. Until of course, a certain scene in the last episode which I won't spoil for the people in ASA territory tonight. 3 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

This may already have been posted here, but just in case it hasn't, there is a petition for the Sci-Fi channel to pick up Jericho, and it appears well worth signing for all Jericho fans. Here is the URL for the Sci-Fi channel Jericho petition (please share this with all your friends): http://www.petitiononline.com/mod_perl/signed.cgi?saveJeri&1 Please go there NOW and sign this petition. Thank you. 3 out of 4 found this valuable. Do you? |

The petition is fatally defective, poorly written, and misspelled. We need a new one or a re-write of this one. I don't think the network is going to spend millions of dollars to appease people who cannot spell first grade vocabulary words.

Can the author correct ? Something else I read on another thread was people saying to stop the petitioning of SCI FI because "they wouldn't put as much money into the show' and to petition ABC, NBC. ROFL, people. MARKETING, ever hear of it ? If one of the "greedy 4" cancelled a show because of 'poor ratings', why would another pick it up. Another factor-Get the show back ON first . 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

"Let's list some of the networks that could take Jericho and why:Not CW they will destroy it like they did to Buffy and Angel. And turn it into a love story about Jake or make ASA be Aliens/Demons "NO WAY!" USA and Scifi are owned and run by NBC (CBS will play hardball with them) I say Turner Networks "TBS or TNT" sh*t I'll take CNN right after Anderson Cooper Why not Fox as well. They can have Peter Griffin do a cameo on Jericho! heh 3 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |
