SILO MEN
Jan 8 2007, 9:34 PM EST
OK, SO THE MINUTEMAN MISSILES ARE SENT OFF TO - WHO KNOWS WHERE? WHAT THEN HAPPENS TO THE MEN IN THE SILO? THERE LOCATION MUST BE CLOSE TO JERICHO, AS THE MISSILES CAN BE SEEN WITH THE NAKED EYE. IF THE PEOPLE IN TOWN WANT INFORMATION SO BADLY, WHY DON'T THEY JUST GO AND SEEK OUT THESE AIRMEN AND OBTAIN SOME COLD HARD FACTS ABOUT WHAT IS REALLY GOING ON? AT LEAST THE WRITERS OF THE SHOW COULD HAVE THE AIRMEN BE ABANDONED, POSSIBLY DUE TO THE LACK OF PERSONEL AND/ OR THE LACK OF OPERATIONAL EQUIPMENT DUE TO THE E.M.P. PULSE, AND SEEK SAVE HAVEN IN THE TOWN OF JERICHO AFTER THEIR SUPPLIES RUN OUT. AT LEAST THEN WE VIEWERS COULD ALL THEN GET SOME INSIDE INFO. TOO!

They are at least 100 miles away per the comments from Mayor Johnston and there would be closer towns than Jericho. There is also the point that if the events happened as they did, all US Forces are put to the highest level of alert, which means for the missle silos, shoot on sight. Also, since you probably were not in the military, the people posted in the silo are 1) low ranking so the probability of them being filled in on details is nil. 2) on high alert so the silo is sealed and no one goes in or out without orders 3) even if the missles are fired, the silo crew is not allowed to leave the silo until relieved. Also, EMPs are not all encompassing as shown on the show. Missle silos are hardened against an EMP so the equipment will still work. Just a few comments to help clear things up.

One receives the Com Message to fire, the other Authenicates the message to see if it is legit, then they go through the proceedures for launch where both have to insert their own keys and turn simultaniously to trigger the launch of the missle. With the launch codes are the co-ordinates for the missile's target in code. Once the birds fly the coop, the team shuts the blast doors to the silo and hunkers down for the impending hit on their location by the enemy. If the enemy were Russia or China, the show would have shown massive hits all over the country. It seems to me that the small number of cities hit conform to OBL's talk of an American Heroshima where he wanted to hit 13 to 15 US cities. The birds flying the coop could have gone to Iran , etc. As far as EMP is concerned, to have a widspread effect over the whole US, you have to detonate a Nuke of 50+ megatons at 100 miles over Omaha, Nebraska to carry coast to coast and border to border. Iran recently shot a Shahab III rocket out of a freighter in the Black Sea and detonated a warhead at 50+ miles high over the sea. Iran working with OBL could be the enemy with a little help from a fifth column in the US Gov for the show purposes. Especially since many Americans like a good conspiracy now and then. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |
