Jake and Heather
Apr 17 2007, 11:27 AM EDT I think it will turn out that Jake ends up with Heather. Putting him with Emily would be TOO stereotypical. Here's an interesting fact: when Jake was younger and (says Emily) when he was in high school, he was looking for action and adventure. He says to Dale that he was looking for trouble. But when Jake comes back to Jericho, he is somewhat changed. He is very considerate, ready to give his life for the town, and he has become its protector. Here's the intersting part: when Jake had his romance going with Emily, it was before the change of heart. He was attracted to Emily because of her daring and willingness to drive a drive through a fence when 20 people are ready to shoot her. Action. But since he's returned, Jake has shown an interest in Heather. Heather confesses to Jake on "Black Jack" that she is not the dangerous type. She is "flannel pajamas and the occasional light beer," and thus she is the sort of person Jake would want to guard and protect. Since his attitude has changed, I think Jake and Heather will end up together. (Jake is also very considerate of Heather's feelings; he denies that being timid is how he ticked. He did this because he was afraid if he agreed with her it would hurt her feelings. They both know she's pretty timid!) 15 out of 17 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: Jake and Heather
Sep 15 2007, 10:43 PM EDT I think this is a great summary. However, TV shows rarely let their characters mature, change, and grow. They take the easy way out. Since Jake and Emily are plastered all over the advertisements, I've lost hope that they'll continue to play off the themes in the original 6 episodes of the season - for, if they did, Emily would be a piece of a past that Jake is trying to escape and Heather would be the person getting compared to his mother. I miss Heather. I loved how smart, energetic, and capable she was. Do you find this valuable? |

I think she is also adventureous in her own way. She is not afraid to step out and take chances (eg. going off to help build the windmills, when she could have gone back to JERICHO and safety.) She's just more quiet, and less obvious. I believe that she can handle just about any situation that comes up. I also believe that she is more suited for Jake than Emily now because Jake has grown up (matured) and needs someone he can count on, which is Heather. Just my opinion. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |
