60. RE: when is the season premiere
Nov 7 2007, 11:34 PM EST
The one good thing about the writer's strike is it will make CBS a little more desperate to find something to fill in the blanks with. I bet it will translate into additional publicity for Jericho when it finally does come on the air. If other "hit" shows will begin to run out of steam by December, Jericho could potentially bat a homer if positioned well.

I have become very leery of CBS. As I said, I believe someone high up does not like the Jericho series and has despised it since its inception. Its original placement in the Wednesday timeslot so it would come up against American Idol, the most watched TV show at present. Next the elimination of the character played by Gerald McRaney; all other characters revolved about Johnston Green. Third, if I'd received 40,000 tons of nuts as a protest, you can believe I would put that program on, not during midseason, but it would have been in the Fall lineup in a very good spot. It would not have been planned as a fill in for failed programs. CBS said they would probably start the show in October. People, October is gone! Then we've heard it's to begin in January. And now the latest rumor, the program will return in the Fall of 2008. I suspect the writing is on the wall and we aren't reading it! CBS is planning to dump Jericho. Maybe if we are lucky those last 7 episodes will show up on video store shelves sometime next year. It is obvious that CBS ia giving us the run around. There is no intention to reintroduce Jericho. Maybe if we start sending nuts again, with the message they don't stop until the show is on the air. I do know this, if Jericho fails to return, I will completely eliminate CBS from my viewing, as well as any cable channels they operate.

I don't understand what Moonlight has to do with anything... wasn't Jericho originally on Wednesday night, where 'Kid Nation' currently sits? if they do put it back on (I HOPE I HOPE I HOPE) it fits much better in that spot (right before Criminal Minds) than on Friday nights after Ghost Whisperer!!

We are discussing the best night for Jericho to air, when I suspect we will be fortunate if it airs at all. If they put it up against American Idol again, many will record Jericho as they watch Idol. Idol is interactive. I have no idea just what the demographics are on the Jericho audience. What age group? What economic status? What ethnic group? What level of education? From viewing message boards at CBS Jericho web site, I'd say better educated, various income levels, variety of ethnic groups, and late 20's and above as far as age group. From my understanding of the networks, they aim their programing at the teens and early 20's, people with fewer resposibilities and more disposable income. That's what attracts the sponsors. And we all know sponsor money drives the TV industry. What the writer's strike will do to the availability of programming , we can only guess. If it's a long strike, we will be watching reruns of almost everything, if we even watch. The actors seem to be supporting the writers and joining their picket lines. So even if their are scripts ready to be taped, the actors may choose to stay away. I don't even know if the writers and management are talking at this time.

Last year I found two of the best shows I have ever seen. Heroes and Jericho. Everyone I talked to would ask me, "have you seen Jericho, or, "have you seen Heroes? Well there is still, if not more, of a buzz about Heroes, and a bunch of pissed off people wondering when Jericho is comming back! This is why CBS has always played second fiddle to NBC. Can you imagine NBC keeping Heroes in the can, after cancelling it, and then bringing it back because of a massive fan movement (NUTS!). Hell no! They would have had that show back as quick as possible. Now, I know they are not the same show, but if Jericho would have been on NBC, it would have been in a prime slot right before a "Moonlight" or a "Viva Whatever", and fans would'nt be talking about the "hacks" who run the network. Put it before "Criminal Minds", where it was, write more then seven episodes, renew it for a third season, and show the viewers you have a clue! NUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree. I think Heroes and Jericho were neck and neck last year. At times, Jericho pulled ahead of Heroes, and vice-versa. If CBS has no intention of taking Jericho seriously, I kind of wish they would sell the rights to Sci-Fi Channel. Sci-Fi Channel would be perfect for it, since it's not a sci-fi show that requires jaw-dropping special effects. Sci-Fi could probably keep Jericho going at a very modest budget. 4 out of 5 found this valuable. Do you? |

I do watch Heros now, even though I did not last year. I have found it hard to find a show that is worth watching. CSI (this is meant to cover all the CSI variaties) is a repeat every week, no matter if the show is brand new. Miami just keeps echoing Vagas or New York and New York just sucks. Since it was just anouced that 24 would not air, unless the strike ended soon, I may stop watching the big three. In do not blame the strike (even though a hate unions with a passion), I blame CEO's that want the money in their pockets.Well WTFU CBS, here is your new money shot, Jericho! 3 out of 4 found this valuable. First of all, I do not understand what is with all the bashing of Moonlight. This is a site about Jericho, if you don't like Moonlight, don't watch it!!! And don't come here to complain about an unrelated show because the show you want isn't on at this time.As I recall, when they first announced that they would renew Jericho after originally cancelling it, they already had the fall lineup set and said that Jericho's new episodes would be a mid season release, which usually means January. That is when I expect we will finally get our long awaited new episodes. But then again, the strike could be putting a kink in that plan but either way, I still expect it will be after the new year before we are finally given new episode of this great show. 4 out of 6 found this valuable. Please..... make it soon, I am dying here. I watch tv everyday and I keep flipping the channels for something...ANYTHING...interesting. I am soooooo bored with the fall programming, I am about ready to get off the couch and rejoin society. Stop me before something bad happens... I need a fix... a jericho fix immediately. Rescitate the fall programs!!

I don't think the strike is putting a kink in the plan. As far as I know, the seven Jericho episodes are already recorded. If anything, the strike might make CBS desperate enough to use them before January. (That is, assuming nobody high up at CBS has some agenda against Jericho. My fear is CBS has no true desire to show the episodes, and merely uncancelled the show to stop angry fans from mailing nut-related products to them.)

I don't know about advertisers, but I spend way more on products now in my thirties, than I ever did in my 20's. I am more established and have more money to spend. If advertising is holding it up, the advertisers are crazy... We just bought a new Ford truck cash, and are shpping all the time and we are not in debt. teens and 20's don't think about buying insurance, baby food, childrens toys, vacations, furniture, and anti aging products like those late 20's and above. There are tonnes of products to advertise to Jericho fans. How about Planters Peanuts....

I think CBS needs some more nuts. Does anyone know what the address is again. I am ready to start sending them some more nuts. There has only ever been a few shows I truly loved and Jericho is one of them. Others are Heroes, X-Files, Eyes (canceled by lame network execs), and my most favorite one: 24. I like the story and writing better in Jericho and the only reason why 24 is my all time favorite. It is becuase they dont piss off the fans and they show 24 episodes in a row in the correct sequence. They dont have flashback episodes, reruns every couple of weeks and other things that just simply drive me "bleeping" crazy. I also think we need to find out who some of the advertisers are for the perferred time slots and start sending them nuts as well telling them we want Jericho back and if not we will boycott them as well. Jericho is the only show that my house even watched CBS at all. So I wouldnt be threatening to stop watching them, I just would stop watching them by default. Someone said about the target audience, I am not sure what kids do now or spend their money on, but when I was in my late teens and 20's it wasnt about watching TV. And I certianly didnt have the money that I have now to spend. I actually like Planters Peanuts, maybe we should write to them too.

Better yet, what if Planters had a special edition package for Jericho. Another thing I might suggest, send your empty nut containers to CBS. You get to eat the nuts, promote a sponser, and give CBS trash they have been forcing down our throats. Sounds like a winning plan to me. I honestly do think the CBS execs are trying to start a battle. The only thing is, there are more of us than them. In fact, I should just start sendng all my empty nut containers to CBS for the rest of my life if they cancel the show. If they do cancel it, does anyone know how to buy it?

Well I can tell you that I must be the one American that has NEVER watched American Idol and I probably never will. I just hope this Writers Strike benefits us so we can finally see the show we have been fighting so hard for. But the bottom line is the fact that CBS is not taking care of their consumers nor are they taking care of their writers... WE ARE ALL GETTING SCREWED.

"Well I can tell you that I must be the one American that has NEVER watched American Idol and I probably never will."WOW! There's two of us, lol. I also have NEVER watched and probably never will watch American Idol, nor almost any of the way over hyped "reality" shows. The only one I did watch was Big Brother and I think I've seen my last season of it as it was completely manipulated by the producers. But that's a subject for another site, lol. As for all those wanting to send nut products and/or empty containers to CBS, I think that's insane. The first time was a good way to get the show back, this time would just be overkill. Unless I am mistaken, the first 5-7 episodes have already been filmed and unless Jan/Feb pass with no release date, it wouldn't make sense to start sending things again as nothing has been said about withholding those episodes from us. But that's JMO. :) 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |
